There is a demo. Could be the real thing.
What hardware are you missing in software?

I agree... when the G2 came out I bought the keyboard version (G2X) at a very expensive price. Did not like the sound character at all... I previously had that little Nord Micro Modular with 4 knobs that sounded quite good. Ended up selling the G2X and getting the Alesis Andromeda.Synthetic Wav wrote: G2 sound worst than the first one imo
I also bought a Nord Lead 3 keyboard when it first was released, but did not like the sound character as much as my Nord Lead 2 rack, so the NL3 did not stay long either. Gave up on the newer Nord synths after that. I still have the NR2... but will be selling it soon. Don't have room for it anymore... it sits on a shelf unused.

I don't know.. I like them both equally. One cleaner than the other but they still both sound stunning to me.Synthetic Wav wrote:G2 sound worst than the first one imodo_androids_dream wrote:Best digital synth ever made. The demo proves it can be done.Unreflected wrote:nord modular g2.

If somebody aped the Zvex Instant LoFi Junky in a VST, I'd grab it in a heartbeat.

It's still legitimately available to buy and the zplane filter is being released as a eurorack moduleDrGonzo wrote:Isn't the X3 discontinued?robotmonkey wrote:Theoretically they are already in VST plugin. It's called Emulator X3.HM wrote:I miss E-mu z-plane filters as a vst-plugin

Jupiter 4 is a good suggestion. Roland's ProMars is from the same vintage and shares some character, so that's probably the closest so far. Roland sort of promised/teased more virtual synths, so maybe they'll do it before too long...

Going through some old stuff I remembered two more:
Technics WSA1 - A synth that went under the radar mostly at the time, maybe because the company that made it was not known for making synths. But this synth was absolutely a killer synth for pads, ambient soundscapes and such. And of course it did all the ROMpler stuff too. It used physical modelling alongside PCM for some interesting programming possibilities. Definitely would love to see this as a VST.
Kawai K5000 - Another synth that was absolutely killer for pads and ambient stuff. Like DX-series and Wavestation it was fiddly to program without computer with so many parameters but a VST version could really improve it.
