Or just get MainStage, whole suite of stuff right there (will have to do some audio rerouting though if you want to pipe it back into another DAW)pdxindy wrote:Yeah, the upgrade price to Alchemy 2 was kinda steep... but I consoled myself by getting the rest of Logic for freeel-bo (formerly ebow) wrote:By 'Alchemy 2', and get LogicX for free

Very cool suggestions, definitely check out the Affinity products if you're into graphic editing.
Logic Pro X is a killer deal at the price given the inclusions, but imho, Cubase is better in almost every way. Many years later we still have sloppy audio editing in Logic, no Elastique time stretching and ability to change pitch of an audio clip in realtime, no non-destructive effects processing, no multiple controller lanes in the piano roll .etc .etc.
Cubase 8.5 runs like a dream on OS X assuming your plugins are stable, I highly recommend it!
Of course, then there's Screenflow for creating screencasts, which is absolutely awesome! If you want a more powerful archive utility (like WinRAR), I really like an app called Entropy, but there's also Betterzip (which is great) and even WinZip for Mac (oddly named).
If you're an uber geek (like me), you'll also appreciate the Terminal and tools like Homebrew (and Homebrew Cask) that give you a fully fledged Unix package manager for Unix tools and even an automated way to install desktop software.
Also, be sure to learn the gestures on your Magic Mouse or Magic Trackpad, they are ... well ... magic!
If you miss having folders up top in Finder (I know I do), a little feature is coming in Sierra which will allow us to place folders up top like Explorer ... which imho makes so much more better sense. Really looking forward to that!
For cloud providers, I find that Dropbox works the best on OS X and is extremely well integrated. I also use OneDrive too though, and although it's nowhere near as refined, it serves me well and gives me lots of storage for free (my work is part of the Office 365 program). Google Drive is imho average at best, the client has some issues with time Machine restores, and various sharing features are too limited in Google Drive.
Another handy tool I love and add is BetterSnapTool (or any of that variety, like Magnet, Spectacle .etc .etc) which allow you to map keyboard shortcuts to half screen, full screen, minimise, move to next screen .etc .etc). These sadly are not built into OS X but these apps add them seamlessly.
Enjoy!!

I haven't used Windows in 20 years and this is still something that bugs me. In all directory structures I make I put a "-" at the front of the name so the folders stay at top.If you miss having folders up top in Finder (I know I do),
