As said on the other thread, definitely not this, as they tweeted a few days "not what people are expecting". I think, sadly, it probably counts out all beats-based stuff.ATS wrote:new Stylus coming...
Best guess so far IMO is an Omni plugin iOS app, but hoping not. As ever, they've done well to keep whatever it is totally off the radar.

It would be a disappointment for sure, but it does kinda fit their world view. They've been about synths, beats and bass for well over a decade, plus they've released an iOS app before. It would be the lowest hanging fruit for them (aside from the already discounted Stylus 2).ATS wrote:my God that would be lame after any hype at all.
But of course it's not a certainty. You could take the "something new" line to read that it is precisely this focus on the three things that will finally be broken - their earliest products also focus on voices, guitars and world instruments after all. Or it could be hardware. Potentially the most interesting development of the lot would be if they've come up with a truly revolutionary controller. Will always be interested to see whatever they come up with.

Something new.....not what you expect. Well, maybe it's not even music related. It might be a car! The Omni-van or the Trilian-truck!

(Additional beats thought - I've long assumed that any follow up to Stylus would combine audio loops and one-shots. It's just possible that if they abandoned RMX audio loops completely as being too restrictive, the new product could be "not what people expect". If it were a pattern generator, noise generator and sample playback engine combined, that would be a best-case scenario for me).

"Ten years in the making..."
So this was started, at least in some manner, two years before Omnisphere was released, and too late to be Stylus, as that (the original) was first released in 2002.
And hopefully that doesn't mean it's an Omnisphere expansion pack...

Oh yes, completely new soundsources please. Not just PSR or Distorted Reality stuff, although I'm not objecting those of course, as long as it's something for Omnisphere.beely wrote:And hopefully that doesn't mean it's an Omnisphere expansion pack...
Or an expansion called Atmosphere 2!
I know Omnisphere is kinda like Atmosphere 2, but then it really isn't, is it...?
Right?

Knowing Spectrasonics, I wouldn't put my money on an ordinary vacuum cleaner. Granular liposuction machine more like.classic wrote:I think they will release a new kind of vacuum cleaner.
Well that would be at least extremely new
Now that would be extremely new.

Guys don't be so daft, it is Stylus II.
We are expecting it to not be this, so by not not expecting it, it is
Or more eloquently, a textbook double bluff.

Fun game this. Guitars, perhaps? They did HZ guitars over 15 years ago. I can imagine they wanted to improve on it, but lacked the tech to do so, trying to figure out a way to do multiple strings right.
