Well as you pointed out yourself, better that beta testers keep their mouth shut, and let regular users make their say, when the plug is finally released
Good try, but thats twisting my words. I was refering to leaking info (and stand by that)

As far as i know, users like you and i ARE free to have our say. Whether the dev takes any notice or not is a diff matter...

+1

Sure, it is the devs that should take notice, and not the beta testers now that the beta testing period is over :borg:

Try the demo and make up your mind.

Compared to Monark it has more features, and compared to DIVA it is a lot more friendly on the CPU

Thats for you to decide.... and the deciding factors would be authenticity and quality.

A few points:

- it sounds great, IMO even better than Monark
- they modeled te Minimoog with even small details (also due to extensive analysis, measurements and and testing of the real thing) and also seemed to improved thing not properly done with previous emulations (e.g. the Noise and Noise modulation + smaller changes at some waveforms)
- two models of the Minmoog (Early and Late included), based on two differnt Minimoog Model D revisions
- some advanced faetures including 4-voice poly mode, 4-voice Unison mode (both with adjustable stero width), a 12dB/oct filter mode, Delay + Reverb effects, full ADSR envelopes, Overload/Overdrive + Feedback
- trimpots at the back panel to further adjust the sound or certain parameters like e.g. PB range, legato etc.
- low CPU use, especially with polyphony used (around the double amount of a single voice)
- 416 presets including 107 re-programmed from the patch sheets from the Minimoog patch charts book by Klaus P. Rausch
- parameter ranges are mostly compatible with original Minimoog patch sheets (beside some fine tuning if you really want to nail the patches at the patch sheets)
- compared to Monark: no Reaktor has to be laoded to use the plugin and the plugin of The Legend loads very fast
- also available as a RE for Reason which is so far not possible with e.g. Monark and Diva

The deciding factor for me would be personal favor. And noone can take that decision over for you.

The Synapse newsletter wrote that it's out for $99 with a 30 day trial (!).
It sounds excellent (judging only because of the videos) and they wrote "emulates one of the most famous vintage analog synths of all times" and "developed in cooperation with vintage synth specialist Bigtone Studios".

So we speak about a Minimoog. I know only that Bigtone Studios made a lot of excellent presets for different synth, so this seems to be an interesting combination. Must be demoed ;)

Love how you can take off all the effects with one simple switch.

There is a Youtube video which compares Legend and the HW.
Several presets are used and both play same notes.
IMO Legend's emulation is very close.

Exactly!

I found playing the presets of the demo with the Effects disabled is much more interesting than with the effects on.

I have spent almost two hours between Monark and the Legend and I couldn't pick a winner! I believe the two are a must have for anyone like the Minimoog sound (who doesn't! :hihi: ). It might be worth it to make them complement each other by combining them into one sound (two tracks each playing at the same time? Maybe!) I like this idea a lot!

Anyway, I won't use any of them for pads or atmospheric patches ..etc. For me, Monark and Legend are for Bass and leads and maybe some vintage effects. That's it, for vintage pads there are others ;)

You probably shouldn't, both of those synths have you well covered especially Diva.

That said, while I have the two synths I'll also be getting Legend because I love the sound (I was never inspired by Monark).

I certainly don't 'need' The Legend, but I definitely will be owning it. :tu:

I was never inspired by either DIVA or Monark. I found them kind of..meh. DIVA because I didn't enjoy the sound and heavy CPU use. Monark I like its punchy sound for some things, but that's about it. This however...sounds beautiful, behaves really nice, it's easier to use, while still being gentle on my CPU!. If this is close to a real Model D's sound, now I get why people love the vintage hardware so much.

Totally agree... :tu:

Even 4-voice polyphony :tu:
The user interface looks appealing, luckily they even did away with those irritating swivel switches, whose status is hard to tell.

A suggestion: expand the Polyphony knob so that from 12 o'clock to 3 o'clock one can continually set the stereo for monophonic sounds (12 o'clock full stereo, 3 o'clock full mono). Sure, some DAW's have such controls, but it would be nice to have it in the synth.

Judging from the audio examples and the features, this synth will hurt some other synths badly.
