See question in the title! And I hope it's the right subforum, I'm always confused by so many categories
It reads like I could cancel my subscription anytime, but I am not sure about that.

Yes. Just make sure you cancel before the end of the month.
But it would take a month just to download the libraries!

Nah not for me, I've got a 50k connection which means ~5-6mb/s, which is 18GB+ per hour. Unless eastwest doesn't have a bad connection and grants a 2016 appropriate service.Ayorinde wrote:Yes. Just make sure you cancel before the end of the month.

But I am still thinking about it because all the worse things I heard about iLok. Is it easy to remove afterwards or does it install itself deep into the system/registry?

I've had zero problems with ilok, so I've never had to un-install it. It does dig deep into the os, though, and runs as a service (on Windows), so it's always lurking in the background. My only gripe is that it installs Apple's Bonjour service. Why?Foxedge wrote:Nah not for me, I've got a 50k connection which means ~5-6mb/s, which is 18GB+ per hour. Unless you are working on a laptop, ilok (the dongle) is a non-issue.

Keep in mind that after you cancel, nothing will work and you need to bounce everything you do with it to audio and remove the plugins from the project in order for them to load at that point.

Yes I know. I just wanted to try their stuff out for a month, not planned to keep it afterwards.Mystic wrote:Keep in mind that after you cancel, nothing will work and you need to bounce everything you do with it to audio and remove the plugins from the project in order for them to load at that point.

I rememver that where composer cloud was announced I looked for exactly the same thing (1 month service) and it seemed not possible to me. You always had to pay for at least 1 year.
Edit
It seems it is ok for 1 month:
ComposerCloud is perfect for anyone involved in music creation who need access to the most awarded range of virtual (software) instruments, anytime, anywhere. Sign up now for a month, a year, or stay as long as you want, there are no long term contracts for ComposerCloud; however ComposerCloud X and ComposerCloud Plus plans require a minimum commitment of one year

It would be OK if you don't have a metered connection - that download would cost me over £40 !Foxedge wrote:Nah not for me, I've got a 50k connection which means ~5-6mb/s, which is 18GB+ per hour. I did this a couple months ago.
(Longer version: I signed up when it went month-to-month, downloaded everything, kept the sub for a while, then when things got slow, I cancelled. When I needed Silk again recently, I bought a month. Works great).

Check the re-sellers, don't check the re-sellers. I don't care.

I have kept an ongoing subscription. $29/month for GoldX is a deal and I get to keep my inspiration in tact and without slowdown. I throw away a lot more money than that on bad dining choices each month, ha!
