This is a limited view of meditative music, and meditation itself.JJBiener wrote:Based on some of the comments on this thread, I have to conclude that they have never heard good meditative music. It is probably not their fault because there is so much bad meditative music. The good stuff is not just bland music operating like a pink noise generator. Good meditative music facilitates the individual's ability to get into a meditative state. It helps guide the person through the meditative session. Then it gently leads the listener back to their normal state. If you don't understand meditation, chances are your tracks will reflect that.

...and I'm in
dunno if this might sound "meditative" to you but it's something I was compelled to make once I started the piece
- that's kind of what it's like around here these days :=)
meditation to me has to do with breathing - becoming acutely conscious of the breath; one after the other, each breath special, each breath precious
peace

Here are some comments on the tunes, in the order I listened to them....
ablaut - Vintage Meditation - About as simple a track as can be. I've tried various vinyl plugins. They all get taken off the track as time progresses. They tend to annoy me. Sorry.
donkey tugger - Meditate- Vocally reminds me of Bowie in places. Short and sweet. Some nice textures going on.
ClaRago - Stairway to Akanishtha - Nice textures, in the background, not sure about brass sounds. Liking that it gets more rocky as the song goes on.
ballacr75 - Light - Nice '80s feel to this.
Laguna Rising - Chakra Clearing on a Spaceship - Slightly sinister feel to this, more halloween than meditate. I like it though.
skipscada - The Cow Says Oom - Nice guitar tone. Was expecting more backwards noises from the song title.
folderol - Drifting - Quite beautiful, nice textures and mellow and relaxing, just what I need this week. (Some slight weird notes at the 2:20 mark to make me not get comfortable).
bluerobot - The sea and the sky - Love a bit of bells, second half adds some nice textures.
beanpole - Broken Dreams - A long song. Takes a while to get going. Didn't think I would last the 5 minutes, then the drums and guitars come in and we are off. Liking it.
Mister Natural - My year of poor decisions - Great title (can I steal it?). Love the guitar effects. Quite unnerving as the song progresses.
Jazzaria - Rumination - Niceeeee.. Nice clarinet work.
Hellfog - Beginning of Life - I can see this on a time lapse video of something being born. Relaxing!
Yeager - Old Trick - Quite melancholic to start with, but picks up around a minute in. Nice guitar work.
bzur - Born Sleepy - Love that piano tone. Not so sure about the acoustic guitar? Li
erictracks -90 Day Tatoo - Guitar tone very 70s. Which is a good thing. Some nice touches
Jay F. - Cloud Gazing on Mars - Very atmospheric and good subtlties going on.
Boone777 -Nice ambience. Worried me when it stopped in the middle, the voice sample is a subtle touch.
