The Orb is a formant filter plugin which simulates the characteristics of the human voice. Featuring a set of three band pass filters, The Orb can transform any sound into a vowel-like formant-filtered sound. With the three LFOs you can modulate the Vowel, the Emphasis/Resonance of the formants, and the Drift, which can shift up or down the frequencies of each formant.
You can also create your own set of vowels by changing name and frequency for each vowel/formant.

Specifications
  • Price: $49 / €49 (VAT inc.)
  • Three Band Pass Filters (ZDF design)
  • Vowel Sets: Male, Female, Child and Custom
  • 3 LFOs (destinations: Vowel, Emphasis and Drift)
  • Lightweight on CPU
  • Preset system with randomizer
  • Formats: VST, VST3, AU, and AAX (32/64bit)
  • Platforms: OSX, Windows

The guitar demos are amazing! Once again you've crafted an effect that does what it says on the cover and it does that well. This could even replace a vocal synth for some things. Brilliant!

what would be great would be the ability to type in words that the Effect would cycle through
If your plugin is a Synth-edit/synth-maker creation, Say So.
If not Make a Mac version of your Plugins Please.

Well, was that one of the easiest decisions in a long time – bought the license after about five minutes of demoing…

Very cool effect, very funky! Works great with AudioThing's Space Strip (nothing to do with female astronauts, you understand).

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

That would be cool indeed, another user suggested a feature to trigger the vowels via MIDI. I'll see what I can do.

Anyway to get slower LFO - say 16 Bars or 0.01Hz ?

If not then, feature request please

Absolutely, I've got other requests for a slower LFO. I'll try to do it in the next update.

Having spent some time playing with The Orb, the one feature request on top of my list is simple MIDI Learn for the individual controls. Right now, when right-clicking the controls, I can 'lock' and 'unlock' the random function. Maybe Shift+right click or similar could be used for MIDI learn?

Hmm, so far I have avoided internal MIDI learn as it's quite easy to do it inside any modern DAW (all parameters can be automated/associated with any MIDI control).
For example in Logic you just press +L or in Ableton Live you just click on the MIDI button (top-right).

I find the Ableton MIDI control hopelessly obtuse. I want 'simple': ctrl-click a knob, wiggle the physical knob or slider on my controller, and that's it. I'd hoped I wouldn't have to play at being a programmer for such a simple thing, which is implemented for many of my synths.

Disappointed.
