Looked for a thread for it, couldn't find one.
Was highly skeptical about it, doesn't even do PWM, played with the demo, caved and bought it.
FML
Seriously, though, the way the oscillators beat each other off, sorry, I mean beat off eachother, or rather, beat against eachother... *sigh*... OK, let's just say detuned oscillators sound amazing. I often find that even excellent synths sometimes have a harshness when you play stacked oscillators at a moderately high pitch - it's almost like inter-modulation. Doesn't happen with this synth.
Nothing will replace Diva for sound design - I've learned so many awesome tricks you can do with that synth, but The Legend is so well optimized and it Just Sounds Good. Simple setup, but there's quite a bit you can do with the overdrive and symmetry adjustment of the filter model.

Apparently I did, despite looking back three pages from the front of the Instrument board and completely missing it

You can do PWM using a saw and a ramp in opposition to one another and slightly detuned. It's an old trick and admittedly you don't have much control over it, but it does sound nice. There's a factory patch that does exactly as I describe.

Yeah, it goes "through zero" (total phase cancellation) but it's a good trick to know. I also noticed you can get some mild PWM using oscillator 3 as a pitch modulator and finding the right ratios. The settings in the attatched pic work well.cytospur wrote:You can do PWM using a saw and a ramp in opposition to one another and slightly detuned. (so apparently by "the right ratios" I mean detuning the mod oscillator from the sound-making one slightly . But experimenting with other ratios like fifths and suboctaves produce some interesting results, as does turning off keytrack - a cross between PWM and ring modulation almost).
Turning up the mod oscillator into the mix can also create some interesting effects - even if it's in LO mode, as it adds DC offset and messes with the filter's drive symmetry.

Well thanks. Thanks a lotNumanoid wrote:+1Kumi_27 wrote:You really missed 60 pages thread? http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 1&t=470249
this is more like an infomercial thread.
seems to me like the op got a copy of the plug in return for promoting it
I thought I had a pretty good reputation around here. I do my reviews at a certain website with full disclosure, and have been told my reviews are both objective and technically accurate from a music making standpoint. You are now accusing me of being a liar and a shill for simply enjoying a product that I paid for and (heaven forbid), sharing my experience.
Thanks for reminding me why I stopped coming to KVR.
EDIT: Ok, I'm not going to replace what I said with something else, but I will say, there was no need to tar the entirety of KVR with one brush. I get bummed out on matters of honesty quite quickly and tend to over-react, especially when it comes from left-field, for seemingly no reason. But obviously sometimes someone WILL think there's a reason, even if it's clear to most there is not.
Treating enthusiasm with a knee-jerk "shill!" reaction just seems hella jaded to me, just because I missed the flipping main post for the product.

I missed the original threads (here and Gearslutz) on this too and only discovered this two days ago. Neither thread title used the words Minimoog, so I just kind of ignored them. The Gearslutz thread was in a dance sub forum, and not in new products, so easy to miss I guess. It wasn't until I saw mention of The Legend being better than Monark in another thread that I found them.

+1
Numanoid's comment ''seems to me like the op got a copy of the plug in return for promoting it'' is out of order.
''seems'' isn't good enough to justify making such a slur.
And even more so given that many of us know about Sendy's honest reviews.

I didn't realize my comment should create such heated feelings.AnX wrote:As usual, numanoid bases all his posts on 'facts'
Such a drip
If I was to take every negative comment aimed at me like this personally, and there have been many over the years, most of them unjust, then life on a forum would be hard.
