Can you make a list of good distortion and saturators, please.
They are 2 different things.
Saturators I already know:
Cubase's stock, klanglhelm free, one knob, d16, ozone, ferric.
Distortion I already know:
camel, Cubase's vst amp rack, trash2, free sans amp pedal.
The ones I don't like much: (I am not saying they are not good, I just to give you an idea of my personal taste)
Ferric, Klanglhelm free, sans amp free pedal.
Any other worthy options to consider? Preferably something really "different" and not too deep to tweak.
Thanks

BlueCat Destructor is really great, and with the "easy" and "expert" modes, you get the best of both worlds.
Klanghelm SDRR "full" is waaaay better than the free version, and very cheap. It stays on the "safe" side of saturation, but it's a great toolbox.
You may like AudioDamage Kmobinat DVA if you like multiband,
And if you enjoy modulation, RPDistort could be a good friend
For free, you may give NickRow TubeDriver a try.

softube's saturation knob is fantastic.
For distortion, Melda's Multiband Distortion is a favorite of mine.

With the risk of being very boring, I recommend the usual suspects: FabFilter Saturn and Soundtoys Decapitator. I also dig NI Driver and the free stuff from Ignite Amps.

I still haven't found an all-around go to solution. It depends on the use: If I'm doing something with a synth, I've been using 8-bit shaper by xferrecords quite a bit. Don't ignore the tiny filter options on the sides, they work very well

This entire forum is wading through predictions, opinions, barely formed thoughts, drama, and whining. If you don't enjoy that, why are you here? ShawnG

You should definitely consider Sly-Fi Kaya. It's kind of next generation modeling and the sound quality reflects it. You get enhanced depth and can go from smooth to downright fuzzy, nasty distortion with it and the blend knob is very useful as is the tone, breakup, and abuse knobs to fine-tune to taste.

La Petite Excite (exciter/dual-band saturator) http://finecutbodies.com/?p=sound
https://www.meldaproduction.com/guides/distortions
I use Live effect racks of upgraded (you get upsampling) Melda free distortions, very high sound quality, super powerful and does all the types of distortion, including wavefolding which isn't that common for some strange reason- it sounds awesome. There are plugins that combine many distortion types in one UI, but I like the modular approach of separate but similar plugins in a rack. I can change their order and do parallel configs easily, duplicate them etc.

Trash 2 by Izotope currently on sale with expansion libraries does distortions very well.
