The best electric guitar VST out there, hands down is Electri6ity but it's expensive as hell.

It literally does everything you can think of. Learning curve is brutal. So be prepared.

I don't think that's a guitar at all. It sounds to me like a square wave and saw wave pluck with some delay added. It could just be my ears, but it definitely sounds synthetic to me- that is if I'm listening to the right sound. That's the only thing I can hear coming in at 30 seconds though. Then again, I could be hearing a chorus that sounds odd to me.

I've had a really good listen to it, and I believe that it was a sampled guitar with some kind of digital chorus effect added in addition to delay. The sample is very small and is replayed continuously which is what makes it sound artificial to me. You could probably just use sampled guitar sounds and add fx if you were just trying for that sound. Another option in a full guitar vst is a guitar emulation like Strum GS-2 by Applied Acoustics Systems. This is a physically modelled guitar emulation. If you wanted to try something different from samples. It has electric and acoustic guitar presets. It's on holiday sale for $99 right now.

I think that is definitely a guitar or a guitar VST. I'm a guitar player first and a midi guitar player second but I do own many guitar VSTs. I don't own the ones mentioned above already so I can't comment on them good or bad. My favorite guitar VST are the ones made by Ilya Efimov. The controls are intuitive for a limited keyboard player like myself and the results sound really good and real.

Guitar VSTs that I have and use:
Ilya Eminov Electric and Acoustic (Regular and Strum - The best!)
Pettinhouse (just bought these on sale last week. I haven't spent much time with them yet.)
Imoact Sound Archtop (sounds great too.)
Heavyocity Scoring Guitars (different uses than a straight guitar but I like it very much)
EastWest various guitars. (I just started renting the EW at $29 a month and haven't spent much time with them yet.)
SugarBytes Guitar (good for getting ideas down. the sound is OK to good.)
NI Strummed Acoustic (great sound but limited patterns)
Acoustic Samples Sunbird (also sounds great)
Acoustic Samples Telematic (meh)

@davidsl222 - if you read my second post you'll see that after a very good listen I think it's a heavily chorused guitar sample loop. IMO it's far too regular to have been played all the way through. I proposed Strum GS-2 because it could do it very easily, and it's on sale. It also has the capability to make custom guitars. I'm just really happy with my purchase and feel it's very underrated.

I have it, I like it, but there are things that it simply can't do that Vir2 stuff does easily.ontol wrote:A fan of AAS Strum GS2 here as well.

Omac - I listened again and more carefully. I hear what you are saying. It does sound like a short sample played over and over again. I hear a variation around 1:00 which could indicate a very great studio guitarist actually playing. There are many ways to reproduce the part including playing the part on guitar and picking the most perfectly played section or two or three and repeating them over and vary the order.
All that said, it could be Strum GS-2. (and at $99 maybe I'll check it out because my GAS is in full gear at this time of year) It could be many other VSTs or a real guitar.

That is true today, but IK have released a physically modeled e-bass instrument. When IK release the physically modeled e-guitar instrument it will be a real game changer.wagtunes wrote:The best electric guitar VST out there, hands down is Electri6ity but it's expensive as hell.

I have virtual drums and bass now...just waiting for the guitar
Until then Electri6ity has the guitar parts covered.

I'm curious. What do you use for drums that you would put on par with MODO Bass and Electri6ity?benjamind wrote:That is true today, but IK have released a physically modeled e-bass instrument.
