Not sure if it's been applied to VSTs yet but cutting up and rearranging code is quite a big area of interest in compsci e.g. using genetic algorithms and machine learning methodsNumanoid wrote:Intriguingxoxos wrote:just pasting junk as said, without start vals totally meaningless but maybe the forms will save some fingerlegwork. a few ppl had nice webpages and vids on this. have fun!
I foresee sometime in the future that the cut up technique (as deployed by Burroughs et al) will be applied to code
Who knows which plugs we will be in for then
Hopefully not just syntax error...
a lo-fi, bytebeat-based synth

Thanks to the OP (Foosnark) for putting this synth together and also a big thanks to Steve for porting this to OSX. It seems to fit nicely into my little strange noise tool collection.
Now it just needs a GUI like Permut8 has. I wonder if I can put something together..

I love this and Fnord! Good clean fun. And by clean I mean drowning in a sea of glorious filth
Getting really into aliased, circuit-bent sounds myself, been messing around in Reaktor Blocks and Softube Modular and getting similar results, but this is just so easy to play around with. Thanks!

short little noisy demo I made while testing this in Bitwig.
It's all the little bytebeater synth with no extra processing. I just automated a lot of different parameters for the different effects.

Oops, I forgot to check on this part of the forum for a while...
I've been messing with Eurorack a lot lately, and got myself an Ataraxic Translatron. It does the LFSR oscillator/noise thing but it's pretty limited and has some odd quirks (like a slight portamento-like lag on the pitch tracking). Still, I like being able to sweep (in a steppy sort of way) from a square wave to noise with a control voltage, so I'm undecided about keeping it vs. replacing it with a Disting or something. As soon as my Perfect Circuit order arrives I've got a full skiff, and I'm unlikely to want to start a new case until maybe the next Luftrum auction or a lottery win
That sounds pretty great!V0RT3X wrote:short little noisy demo I made while testing this in Bitwig.

thanks again, foosnark.
still great little noisemakers...
due to my current setup i'd love to have a 64bit version of fnord.
cheers,
