I want to be able to specify how many bars the cell has Before recording. Supposedly it's possible with Push.. No Push here. You can record silent audio into a cell and Then decide how man bars you want.. but it won't let you record over it.. any ideas? I just want to use live as a looper using audio cells.

Iirc you can record over clips using the overdub button ... unless that's just midi clips? When recording into clips couldn't you leave some space before triggering what you want to record?

Just noticed your edit. I've tried all sorts of things and nothing has worked yet. I'm wondering how it works with Push then? You can specify bar lengths for audio cells with Push which means it HAS to be possible without Push.. Ableton could add a button for this or something or just have some more options match up between audio cells and midi cells.thecontrolcentre wrote:Iirc you can record over clips using the overdub button ... unless that's just midi clips? The fixed length recording is done via the Push remote script.
The good news is that this functionality is also contained in the powerful (and free!) utility remote script clyphX.
Just load it into one of the remote script slots and you will have this functionality either via special clip names or via Midi control.
You can find it linked in the first post in this thread: http://beatwise.proboards.com/thread/99 ... phx-live-8
And you can find good and quick help by Stray (the developer) in this forum too: http://beatwise.proboards.com/board/5
Look up the function: srecfix X in its manual.
I hope this helps

You can loop a certain length of arrangement view - then it will only record track within the loop range.
