Hello,

I'll say CA9 installation worked fine. It seems it used some of the CA8 install for somethings and just updated them, even though I installed CA9 in a different folder.

In any case it installed without a hitch. Runs without a hitch. I did have to point the plugins manager back to my 64-bit plugins folders and resync but it didn't complain once and that is with it finding over 100 plugins.

I loaded a C8 project in it for giggles and loaded without issue, sounds the same. So far thats the level of my expectation, ensuring I haven't lost anything with the upgrade.

I did play with the newer Retrologue from CA8.5 and it is nice. Still haven't toyed with the Sampler track. I think CA9 with the (so far) stability, the bug fix of window minimization (with the Cubase menu bar still being visible), and transport bar is worth the update for me

I don't like being boxed in so I disabled the Lower Zone after trying it briefly. I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOO glad one can disable that. SO SO very glad. I really loathe the Lower Zone type working.. because it splits my already crowded screen into more panes. I like to focus on one thing at a time. I'm simple like that.

Yep that is one of the first things I figured out. Now no more floating transport (that used to always get in the way hehe).

I'm wondering if there is now the ability to move the transport bar from the bottom to the top of the screen. I generally have all my bars at the top.. but it looks like this one is adhered to the bottom of the screen with crazy glue.
Thank you for your feed back, glad to see it is working fine for you, regarding the transport bar, no, it cannot be moved, there are already to many elements going on the upper part of the project page. As always it can be added to the feature request, but it depends on how many people request it to get it implemented.

Best regards,

Yes, I'd definitely +1 a transport bar to the top issues request. Reason - any Mac or Windows user who uses the OS's pop up apps list will quickly find that it engages every time you go near Transport. For that reason I disabled the transport bar - along with the lower zone which will forever be too height-restricted to be any practical use for any except very large single screens - very quickly.

Apologies if this has been covered, however I am trying to work out how to port my key commands across to 9. They have all defaulted back to original state and it will take me ages assigning them again. I tried saving them in 8.5, however the name I use never appears anywhere on my computer when I search. I would have assumed they got stored in the /presets/key commands folder however nothing there...
Thanks in advance :)

Easily resizable :-)

So it was working fine for a few minutes. I tested it last night before I went to sleep after I downloaded it and everything seemed fine. Today when I went to start it up, I keep getting "Cubase has stopped working" whenever it says "VST connections". Tried uninstalling/reinstalling, etc. Any ideas?

his resolution might not be high enough to display that much plus some of the project area

zvenx - exactly. No sends or inserts visible, and your project window contains three tracks. Not a brilliant concept, is it?

Once you save them, they are saved I think to a file named Default, you can also save them to specific names files.

Cubase 9 should have transferred them.
If you find the Cubase 'preference' folder, there is a folder in there called Presets, and in Presets there is a folder called KeyCommands. You can copy those across to Cubase 9 equivalent folder.

Sends and inserts are just a click away on the left size of the mixer.
You can resize it to a workable level.
However it indeed may not be for everyone.

I really don't understand the complaining about this. It's completely optional. The old mixer is right there exactly where it was before, EXACTLY WHERE! You don't ever have to use the lower mixer but on my screen you can make it quite small and still have a row of faders. It's no smaller or larger than the similar row of faders in Ableton or Reaper.

Btw, does anyone know how to resize images using the img /img command?

Hi,
First thing I would do is temporarily move the Defaults.xml file to my desktop from my Cubase 'preference' folder and restart Cubase.
Second thing if that doesn't work is try to start Cubase in 'safe' mode.

zvnex - sigh, the point is you can't have a fader and the send at the same time. There's little point in making it higher, because it can't show anything useful. And all the while it hogs half the project window.

Well, most people do seem to be just disabling it once they've figured out how to do it. The reason why its upsetting is that it's ANOTHER huge waste of scant developer resources. It's their #1 selling point for C9, supposed to address the #1 item on the request list - better windows management. It doesn't fulfil that for anyone on a laptop or multi-screen.

Not to mention the fact that the mixer still doesn't recall it's width properly. Which was bug which existed prior to this zone feature thing. Which, in a nutshell, is kinda what is turning people off about this update.
