I loved what you did with the melody on here. I think the sadder style is a better fit with the dark humour of the lyrics. The mix is very good, with lots of clarity. I enjoyed it.

An interesting version of an old Scottish/American tune. I remember singing it in my grade school music class a long time ago. Maybe it could be expanded upon by adding more instruments as it goes along to help keep interest.

I too thought that a sadder style would fit the lyrics better - nowadays. We grew up differently and with different music so that it still works with the humor now
As for the 'more variety': that's 2:1 for more variety against even less then. As I mentioned in the YouTube comments I had a Mandolin in there but ultimately decided against it. I almost left out the second guitar (which starts about halfway through, almost an octave higher) too. Maybe I'll come back to it later when I am allowed to mix the vocals of my fiancée a tad louder...
