(Sorry for the double post, I didn't see that this was the main thread.)

App developer here. Just wondering how useful these sales and temporary bundles are? How much must the price be reduced to lure you in?

I have tried to reduce the price of my "main" app (Fakebook Pro, a sheet music reader), usually from USD 2.98 to 1.98 or 1.50 for a week or two. There definitely is a peak in sales, but I'm wondering if those downloading the app would have bought it sooner or later anyway? I mean, $2.98 is not a lot of money...

How do you think about sales and what makes you download something?

For me, if its $10 or under I am unlikely to wait for a sale if its something I know I want. If I am on the fence about it I am more likely to wait but if I see it go on sale I am likely to snap it up.

If its pricier - $20 and up - I am generally going to wait for it to go on deep discount (50%)

Thanks, that makes sense. My feeling is that as long as it costs less than $5, the exact price doesn't matter much. But this may differ between countries, off course. I guess some Asian markets may be more sensitive.

With the recent price hikes in the UK (it's now effectively $1=£1) I have stopped buying impulsively and actually think about all purchases, no matter the price. Unless I need it for work, I'll wait for sales and gift card discounts, or check Zeek before I buy.

And to be on topic, Bram Bos Troublemaker is $4.99.
