If you want real sounds, and are looking for a cheap quality rompler, check this out:

http://www.pluginboutique.com/product/1 ... 60-Xpand-2

Xpand!2 is a mighty fine rompler, lifted from Protools and sold by Air instruments. It's at a 99% discount now at Pluginboutique, so you can have it for a dollar and something (yes 1 dollar).

Can't really go wrong there :D

Xpand!2 is definitely great for $1.

These two are only for Windows (32-bit only) but I still like them:

http://sonic-cat.com/purity/

I just wish they would get them working as 64-bit plugins..

They do have this one for 64-bit but I haven't tried it

Purity is small and old school... 64mb soundbank, like the old days... but def has some useful sounds. I have lots of high end synths and kontakt banks, but still find use for it in a variety of projects... what makes it so useful (IMO) is it's 16 parts, so you can make some decent pads and keys by layering sounds. Unfortunately, 32-bit only as mentioned..

Also +1 on both calliope and xpand2 (can't beat $1!!!)...
You need to limit that rez, bro.

Sampletank 3 Custom Shop and Kontakt Player are free and have good free sounds with them.

+1 for XPand!2, really a no-brainer at the current price of $1,00 if you're looking for a rompler.
Kontakt Player and Sampletank 3 Custom Shop are also nice options.

I would like to add the following free or pay what you want romplers to the list:

Orion Sound Module by Samplescience (based on Public Domain sounds);

E-MU Proteus VX (old school E-MU sounds);

It looks like the free Xpand!2 offer from DJWorx may still be working, here is the link. It goes to the AIR website, not DJWorx.
I tried doing this back when it was first announced and did get it for free, even though I already had Xpand!2.

+1 for xpand2.

UVI workstation is also free, but you can buy sounds for it. It can get expensive though, depends on what you buy really :D

Second hand Kontakt license can be found cheap, gets you a pile of stuff.

Then Rapture Pro from cakewalk can be found time after time in insane discount. I bought my copy for 24€.

Here I am almost forgetting my favorite one: Zampler.

Zampler is made by Synapse Audio (that also made the Dune vst and Orion DAW) but distributed for free by a few online magazines. It has a ton of free libraries to go with it, can load SFZ's to expand even further and has a nice sleek synth-style interface.

The official site is in German, but you can put the url in Google translate to view in your own language:

That link takes me to an empty cart page on the AIR site. No sign of any special offers. Xpand!2 is $99 on that site ...
