Good advice. Nice music.

Great advice - especially the parts about just start creating before attaching a definite direction with it - and about ye olde VST Quest :)

I checked out some of your music too and I like it - nice ornamental melodies wrapped in a fantasy theme.

Great advice

Creating music has never been my problem. Have written thousands of songs in 40 years. My problem is creating music that other people actually like other than myself.

That has eluded me to this day.

My only advice that I can add, is just sit down and do it. No excuses. Just do it. It doesn't matter how good or bad you think it is when you start out. Just let it happen and don't stop until you're finished. If you do enough of these, eventually, something special will click.

:) everything in nuce.

Great advice, thanks for sharing. Just a suggestion: I'd wait til the end to put the "Stop this video now and go make some music" bit, rather than having it be on the first/second slide. :hihi:

You mean there was more?! :D

nicely worded and put together. Good advice.

All very good advice, especially the "finish what you start" part. (looks at hundreds of toons on hdd and :( )

I do think that sometimes entering a session with a purely creative approach, rather than a set goal in mind helps initiate sparks for future tracks but also there needs to be some point where one needs to put all of this into some cohesive whole. Maybe a "directed play" approach is required here.

Also, sometimes our idea of what our "style" is can be a bit constricting. I found writing music to a friend's advert helped me move away from default artistic choices and try new things.
