Very sad to hear we lost Maggie this Saturday.
For those who do not know her, she was one of three sisters making up "The Roches". I guess she was a primary song writer, although each wrote songs.
I took interest in their music in the nineties also seeing them perform twice. I was very taken with how their music could move me in a spiritual way although they were also expert writers of tongue and cheek songs.
At a show here in Philly, wanting to be as upfront to the stage as I could, I took a seat just to the stage side. They were proper seats but I was sitting there alone . When the Roches climbed on stage I was seated just under and to the side from Suzzy Roche. Being the sharp witted cheeky member, she started going for laughs. Into the mic and then the spotlight being directed onto me she asks if I had found the optimal perspective from my seat to adequately see up her skirt. Who knows what I said. I was a bit embarrassed but knew she was taunting me in a playful way.
So I thought I'd let you know that I'll miss Maggie. Breast cancer.

Very sad, for some reason I randomly thought of the Roches "Older Girls" while making my morning coffee earlier this week. My mom got some of their albums in their 80's, I always appreciated their quirkiness.

They were filming the show but I have never seen any sign of it.
If anyone happens on it please let me know. Thanks.

Keep On Doing was the first time I heard The Roches as a band. It remains one of my favourite '80s albums. Their harmonies were always attractive, and their humour was an added bonus.
RIP Maggie
