I'm looking for some coloration plugins.

I downloaded a demo or Waves Redd and it seems cool but it gets really harsh.

Yeah those Kush transformers are something else seriously accurate modelling going on there, I find U-he Satin can impart some "vintage" color and is nice for the mix buss and single channels.

how do the kush transformers fair against soundtoys decapitator and radiator?

I mainly use:

SoundToys Decapitator
SoundToys Radiator (like bread'n'butter saturation on "all" channels)
Klanghelm SDRR
Fabfilter Saturn (only for crazy modulated stuff)
Uhe Satin (but very rarely in mixdown or channels, usually just mastering)

I love the Neve-y EQ, transformer & saturation features on PSP's ClassicQ for this purpose.
