Otristan has mentioned earlier in the thread (you'll have to look through it, I'm too busy right now to look up his exact words) that audio-rate modulation between oscillators probably won't happen, I'm guessing it could come at a huge cpu cost. I do have a few thoughts on some features that could help without needing to be able to route anything anywhere at audio-rate.InLight-Tone wrote:I'm wishing that the FM module allowed single cycle waves to expand the waveforms, and/or external input sources like Analog oscillator.
The FM oscillator could have a 5th pcm-based operator added, which would allow some interesting possibilities. It wouldn't need all sorts of time-stretching or granular features, just the ability to load multisamples (which would naturally include single-cycle waveforms), and perhaps a simple filter to control some of the overtone content before it modulates the other operators. The MOD 7 engine in the Korg Kronos can do this.
Adding additional waveform choices to the operators would be great. Options like the TX81Z (8 waveforms) or SY77 (16 waveforms) had would help a lot.
Another possibility would be to have an effect module, similar to the ring modulator, but producing FM between the input signal and an onboard carrier. This would allow FM using any signal.
There may be technical reasons why these ideas are impractal (or even impossible), but I thought I'd throw them out and see if anything sticks.
