Maybe. Looks like Samsung and Qualcom will get to 10nm first for their snapdragons this year if they haven't already. Intel will follow suite as Canonlake is slated for end of this year.cron wrote:
Indeed. When Skylake came out (hugely delayed), Intel said they were abandoning the two-year 'tick-tock' cycle and moving to a three-year 'process, architecture, optimisation' cycle. Even that's looking like it was hugely optimistic right now, and they're only one year into that new cycle.
AMD's a-comin!!!... and Intel's been a-dunnin!!

Some of the 22 ryzen motherboards I have taken a look at are quite expensive, up to 300 euros

Think they'll make a laptop version? AMD has ceded that space to Intel for a while but the gains, low thermals, and price-point of Ryzen can give them a run for the money.fluffy_little_something wrote:Some of the 22 ryzen motherboards I have taken a look at are quite expensive, up to 300 euros

I think it would be fantastic to have a nice laptop with a Rayzen based processor!nonnaci wrote:Think they'll make a laptop version? @FLS:
About the motherboard's prices. Well, it depends on the model. the higher prices usually for 'serious' gamers that want, for example, dual graphic cards support.
I have checked here the prices of the motherboards (Gigabyte and Asus) and mostly I'm going to take the B350 model which can be purchased for $160 to $170 NZD (very reasonable price IMO).

Again, if the mobo's are so expensive, then it's still all a crap-shoot. I'll bet on the "no-come"

I saw suggested prices 70-90 USD for a small MOBO. All I need are 6 SATA ports . Waiting for local offers.

Yes, usually MicroATX is cheaper than ATX motherboards. Anyway, AM4 one is a new socket, so it is normal to be more expensive than previous sockets (AMD or Intel), but still not bad for the B350 chipset based.
Still, you need to know what are you buying! Personally, I have intel 1150 motherboard, cheap one (I think it was for $89 NZD). It is Gigabyte MicroATX and it has been two years using it. Really great! It has only one PCI express for a graphic card and another two mini PCI express ports. I don't need two graphic cards really. One entry level (GTX 750) is enough for my games.
It has only two memory slots which I fill (2 x 4 GB). Plenty of Sata and usb ports and it even has internal graphic card (good to have just in case).
Anyway, this looks a great motherboard. So, I might base my system on it (U$99 in the US I think, still not released yet):

Scan have some 3xs overclocked ryzen bundles listed as preorder - I can't wait to see scans benchtests . I'm just trying to make enough room on credit card for the new PC lol
Hopefully the benchtests will be soon
