How to make that sound...

Hi,
here a nice version of this sound done on SonicProject OPX.

https://youtu.be/UIXuxp2I2B0?t=5m43s

The OPX settings are:

Mode: Unison, legato, short portamento

OSC1: saw
OSC2: saw, +11 st, SYNC by osc1, level half (-6 db)

Filter: 24 dB, Reso: 80%, Env: 75%, keytrack 0%, Reso peak at 2600 hz.

AmpEnv: A: 35%, R: 21%, full sustain, attack time: 10 ms
FltEnv: A: 39%, R: 40%, full sustain

FX: Delay 275 ms, -18 dB, Reverb 1,1 sec, -15 dB
Pitchwheel: +2 / -12 semitones

I also tried to convert this to OBXD, but I'm not so satisfied with the result.
It seems that the hardware (and OPX) do have exponential attacks, while OBXA has logarithmic attacks.

Ouch, was about to necro-revive this topic, happy that someone did it before me.

I'll gonna play this on a band..

Downloaded the demo of SonicProject OPX-Pro II (the silencing on the demo is really annoying).

OPX-Pro nails the sound. Tried to do it on Arturia Jupiter (yes, I know that Arturia has a lot of flaws) and couldn't get close to the sound. Unison mode on Arturia doesn't allow legato, right? And the envelopes seems a bit off. Tried U-He Ace without success too.

There's a patch on Repro-1 (ARK Capacitive Touch) that without the effects could get closer, but without the Unison.

Still trying to find a acceptable alternative.

Here my version for discoDSP OB-XD.

For the octave drop at the end you have to press the "bend 12" button.

EDIT: sorry for mis-spelling, it's OB-XD, not OBXA.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Hope you had included the wav file too, for those to listen who have not the OB-XD.

Thanks for your patch Chris-S, way better than my own try on OB-Xd. Enough to play it with the band.

About OB-Xd... do you find hard to found the 'sweetspot 'on the synth?

Post

Hey, Chris-S, just found a patch that you created for Pink Floyd - One of My Turns. Very useful to me too. Now just need to convert both to aupreset to use them with Mainstage.

On Synth1:

It appears in the last part. Not the best recreation, but I thought it needed to be mentioned.

Best Regards

Due to it's simple and clear layout I'm finding this synth easy to program.

yes, but I find the fine-tunning of the knobs... hard.

Rried to match the filter and envelope settings from your patch to mine and the fine tuning is hard to do. OBX-d doesn't display the knob values anywhere and this bother me a bit. (but kinda make it more 'analog'in a sense)

But yes, it's a simple synth.

OPX-Pro II, on the other side, seems to be a simple synth, but from the demo and reading the manual, is not THAT simple. A lot of buttons activate more than one function, like:
AMP
Two funtions are mapped here now:
LED orange: Switches the above regulated LFO output to the amplifier.
LED blue: When S/H is on, the input of the S/H sampling unit is fed by the modulation lever LFO (rate knob: just below lower voice LEDs row) instead of noise. This often is called „sampled vibrato“ and results in repeated patterns rather than randomized steps. Read more in the S/H section.
A lot of things changes like this: led color x, does that, led color that, does another. Doesn't seem a good UI pattern to work with.

BTW, what's going on by the discodsp, site closed now several days?

Yes, also noticed yesterday. Dunno if it's a technical problem.

Still unknown. I think that it's a technical issue. There's some speculation on this topic:
