Multi Stage Master Limiter Mux Patch

Input signal sine wave at +12dB
Output with no limiter at all:
Output with Maximizer3:
Output with Mulab Audio Limiter Module with default setting and 50% intensity:
To remove the clipping you need to reduce the input level significantly. The audio limiter does not "limit". It compresses but otherwise clips, which is great for a TB303 acid track, but not always what is required.

I recall the buzz when waves released the utramaximizer back in the days (still sold in various versions). How does this compare to such software, in terms of sound, features, and usage?

I would say it is a question of personal taste. I've made a comparison with another limiter. In the sound example, the Maximizer patch can be heard at the end. Technically both limiters were limited to -0.1 db:
A release time of 100 ms was set, maximization was set to +12 db. Lookahead was on for both limiters.

Nice one! I've tried it in the master Fx rack of my SkaraJammer, great for gluing the 4 machine's mix.
