Oh wait, I have one mini pocket size korg stuff, does that count as hardware? :)
Do you use it as external synth in your songs? Then yes.

I have 4 synths in my iPad, FM4 and 3 Arturia's, but I didn't count them as I don't use the iPad as an external synth, even though i bought it primarily for this :(

Where is the "fish" answer?

I stopped bothering to count my software synths years ago but there are really only a few I use, except when I pull out some other one at random just because I can.

As for hardware, the math is fuzzy since I'm into modular, and have a bunch of weird sound toys that may or may not be synths, many of which can be connected to each other.

So, for simplicity's sake let's say I have just one synth, but it's extremely multitimbral and the UI is all over the place. :ud:

Only two synths as such, one of which I hardly use anymore, though.
(And a rompler and a Rhodes emulation, but I don't think one can call them synths, despite a few synth controls  )

A rompler/sampler with filter(s), adsr(s), lfo(s), should count as subtractive synth imho.
No band limits, aliasing is the noise of freedom!

17. I'm shocked myself... :D

No way to know, unless all of Reaktor counts as 1. If so, then 6, two of which I'll never use.

There are 15 hardware synths (including drumsynths) connected to my main machine (and also a digital piano and a sampler).
I don't know the exact number of virtual synths on my mac, I think there are at least 30 vsts, then there are Logic 9 Express and Mainstage synths, and also Reason 7...

By the way, I rarely use all my hardware synths (and I mostly work otb nowadays)... and while you may be forced to make choices with hardware synths (they require space in your room, they need audio inputs and midi ports...) and move away / sell things you don't use, computers naturally lend themselves to the role of dumpster: things are removed almost only when they cause crashes/imcompatibilities, when space is needed (less of an issue nowadays) or when things are sold. Or when someone buys a new pc or reinstalls it from zero and it's not worth reinstalling something because it has not been used from ages.

So, the number of synths (or any other tool) doesn't say anything... It won't help you making great songs (probably the opposite).
What is actually used (and I would add: often) and if you finish works, that's what counts (if those tools actually enable you to make your works, of course)...
free multisamples (last upd: 22th May 2021).

More than 50 (all software, all but 3 are freeware), which is I think way too much. I normally use less than 10, all other stuff is just laying around for years with me thinking it would be cool to fiddle with it sometime later (happens rarely). Always trying to remove ones that I never find any use for, but always tend to end up with adding more than removed.

Same same. From the 17 synth plugins, i use maybe 4 or 5 on a regular base.

I counted Reaktor as one synth (Razor, Skanner XT, Prism, ..etc), although I'm not using it really that much, but I won't sell it.

I'm concentrating on learning (very well) about 5 synths now. I don't think I will buy any new synth except from u-he and Synapse Audio. Native Instruments (especially Massive) are still amazing me the more I get into but I'm not sure they are going to release a synth like the famous trio (non Reaktor).

Only one hard left, an old EDP Wasp I love but rarely use. 3 soft I use all the time and another 4 I use fairly often for specialised things plus 12 I can barely remember downloading, all either free or magware. Yeah I'm a cheapskate, what of it ?
