Oooh I really am liking that second example @ approx .36secs...tweak! :) Andy this sounds incredible bud.

The values with e-9 will be a bit tricky to "understand", but else... looking forward to test drive this thing.

And my FR to "directly insert values into a circuit diagram" remains... Maybe even a feature where you can connect the clipping stage directly to ground. More different colored diodes, etc... but we're still at the beginning with this.

Geez, now I need to plug my 303 into my Tube Screamer. I can't believe I never thought to do that.

wow. the demo sounds amazing. rich. really awesome.

stoked for this.

Would definitely go towards the "Devilfish" mod category

indeed!!

devilfish mod is several mods though... every devilfish 303 i've played sounds a little different.. which makes sense since every 303 i've played sounds different. the filter FM and muffler and filter tracking and accent decay are really capable of making a 303 even more slippery and funky sounding.. not to mention aggressive.. but a lot of what the devilfish mod does isn't just distortion.. though it sure can.. anyway. just rambling and being pedantic. ;)

No. The product skin and colour scheme match Cytomic's other products.

Those values with scientific notation (eg e-9) are copied directly from the spice .model statements files. I store whatever string is "set" by the diode model, so if the model as SI prefixes like (eg m=milli, u=micro, n=nano) then you will see those instead. I think it's best to leave the model statements as they are to avoid errors, and to make it easier to double check values.

You can edit the list of models, it's just a text file, so you can add any single line SPICE diode model you want. Here is the current beta list (the + signs at the start of the line just mean the model flows to the next line):

You can add any LED models you want, but I couldn't find many in my searches.

I won't change how the diodes are connected in the circuit as that would fundamentally change the underlying "classic" topology of the tube screamer which I don't want to mess with. I will model other stomp boxes that do have post gain op-amp diodes connected to ground, but they will be separate products :tu:

AWESOME! So can we 'invent' a diode to our own specs? And you can parallel them? This thing will be like a laboratory!

Sounds nasty without being horrible. Really really nice! :hyper:

One of the most common Tube Screamer mods is to add a second diode on one side, providing asymmetrical clipping. With that said, if you have provided the ability to change each diode individually, changing only one of them for an LED will provide roughly the same effect.

In one of the screenshots there is a diode count right below the diode type so I would guess that is in there. Seems we'll all have plenty of time to play with it in the near future and anyway from the last few pages I don't think tweakability will be an issue.
