Hi
How about vember audio surge license transfer?

I want to buy surge second hand, but i'm not found any info about license transfer on there site

Post

Looks like Acustica Audio are allowing License transfers again, good news as I want to buy some second hand acquas

Copied from the link for clarity (Acustica Audio):

"we allow license transfer at a low fee, around 10 eur (for most people, read below for special cases)

the license transfer price is increased by the amount of discounts he received from acustica for buying that particular item (presale discount + personal discount); that way we prevent illegal reseller, and we have a license fee fair in terms of paid price.
this is the general rule which is covering the worst case. In general when requested we'll try to not apply the coupon compensation. General rule is for preventing a misuse of the thing. I think our "normal" customers - who are not trying to get a business from the selling of coupons - will transfer with the 10 eur fee.

Starting from now (31st May, 2017):
Simply send an email to
Licensing@acusticaudio.net

They will answer slowly but they do it!"

Gaslighting...is a form of mental abuse in which information is twisted or spun, selectively omitted to favor the abuser, or false information is presented with the intent of making victims doubt their own memory, perception, and sanity.

Hmm, just now found out that Audio Damage do not allow transfer license at all anymore, someone heard anything about it ? (perhaps i passed it)

I wonder a bit why so many customers are willing to accept any restriction on how to use and resell their own property (the license to unlimited usage is their own property and no more in the possession of the party that sold the license! I guess it's very similar in the US too!).
Consequences

This decision does not mean only that software developers cannot prevent second hand sales of their software by their European licensees. It means software licence agreements and all their terms and conditions (not just the one prohibiting transfer) can be ignored by European courts if the licence period is indefinite, and probably even if it is tied to the lengthy period of copyright in Europe - 70 years after death of last surviving programmer. Such a licence will be regarded as a simple sale and sales of personal property cannot be tagged with conditions on how the property can be used.

This means, for example, that if a licence for software to be downloaded has an indefinite or long period then the usual restrictions or obligations placed on a licensee as a condition for granting the licence such as number of servers, server location, confidentiality, security, field of use, termination for breach will all be unenforceable.

In my humble, layman opinion, this also severely questions the practise of license transfer fee pay-walls. Especially when specifically sized to prevent the customer to resell.

An important exception is renting/subscription based licensing. These type of licenses don't affect property. Think about it next time you compare the costs of subscription vs classic models! ;)

@mementus: Just saw you posted the same link already. Indeed it is worth being discussed.
I live in the EU. Does this mean I can sell my 8Dio products without getting into any trouble?

Spectrasonics was a nightmare to deal with. In addition to being charged a $50 transfer fee , the process took 2 weeks to complete. They really string you along , I'm sure to discourage transfers. They start out with a cult like mentality; why do you want to sell, don't you like us anymore, is there something else we can sell you. Several emails back and forth. Days , just to give their ruling if you're eligble to transfer. Once the transfer was approved and After I paid the transfer fee; it took 3 days to complete the transfer.

Probably the worst company in the industry for license transfers. In my experience this kind of behavior comes from the top. I'll never buy any of their stuff again.

They allow transfers. I bought it secondhand a couple of years ago from the KVR marketplace. I think you have to mail the developer ...

Bought the full Output-package 3 weeks ago, but it's really not for me.
Can't find anywhere that states it's possible to transfer the license.

I've seen license transfers for sale here in the forum - can anyone guide me in the direction of the right steps to take?

Would appreciate it,
Lars

Doesn't surprise me considering their sales madness.

Beatskillz

will allow license transfers, apparently with no fee. But according to an email response, they will end support for any license that is resold. I specifically asked, and they didn't mention anything about NFR restrictions afterwards.
