+1
They raised the price...come on...
I agree on that...100€ is a bit "harsh". :hihi:

I don't think that doubling the price of a plug-in within a couple of hours after a lower price has been announced to the public is a well-considered movement in terms of marketing.

At this price tag, I definitely won't buy it, no matter how good it is.

can i plz use DeEdger on the price? :D :D :D sorry but even for 50 i'd have to think twice before buying it. for 100 i'd not even demo it. and tbh it's a dick very unfortunate ( ) move if the price really got doubled that quick.

I've tried it and at first I thought it was broken. The treatment is beyond subtile ! I'm sure some people won't even hear any change in the sound...
Please don’t read the above post. It’s a stupid one. Simply pass.

Come on.... "Dick move"... it's most likely just an honest mistake.
Silly? Unfortunate? Sloppy? Sure, that it is.

For those who bought it instantly...well that's a good deal knowing they never
do any kind of special sale.

Nope "flash intro mistake"... :?

From my work view, this is a lazy tool for something you have incredible control over with individual tracks. I could see where it's valuable if you're mastering and don't have access to individual tracks...

Building a reputation on well priced extremely versatile plugins, then this ?
Just seems weird, then doubling the price within hours of release, just stranger still, compared to Tokyo Dawns other plugins i would expect this to be $10 or something.

Let's get some things straight:

1) This is NOT a replacement for tools that try to control resonances/frequencies, like bx_refinement (which is a complete ripoff in my opinion as it's just some basic filtering) or Soothe (which is absolutely amazing).

2) This thing works "intelligently" on TRANSIENTS. This is why on some material you will struggle to hear any difference at all and on some material it's very obvious.

3) It's a relatively subtle effect. However, once you actually learn to hear what it does, it's hard to "unhear" it and you've suddenly upgraded your ear/brain connection and advanced to the next level of audio experience. :)

Harshness in this case is "clicky" "ticky" annoying transients that give the sound source a sort cheap/amateur feel to it. Very evident on most home-brew/my-first drum overhead recordings done with bad equipment and bad cymbals. Everything is just clickety-clacky and nasty. This plugin can seriously help in these situations, together with EQ and compression.

This is a plugin that can take a while to learn what it does and thus the price reflects it. Only people who persevere and know that they need it are the target audience. I suspect the vast majority won't "get it". Especially people who struggle to hear or understand subtle dynamic range changes (compression/expansion) will most likely have a hard time hearing the effect here. Which is totally okay. It's a very specific tool and knowingly very subtle. It was created by a mastering engineer so it's no wonder.

It's not an ordinary TDR plugin. The pricing structure and all the DSP coding was done by a 3rd party. It just uses the TDR framework for the plugin.

As you can quite clearly see on the website, it's sold under OHLHORST DIGITAL brand. Not TDR brand. This will get more clear once Jan Ohlhorst releases more plugins under his own brand.

EDIT: Here is Jan's website btw.

Yes, the previous plugins had much more comprehensive functionality and scope. I read on Gearslutz that this is a product apart from the regular Tokyo Dawn Labs line, hence the OD branding, which stands for Ohlhorst Digital. Jan Ohlhorst is a mastering engineer and the DeEdger is specifically for mastering purposes.

The price tag of 100€ seems quite steep at first (certainly not a price I would pay as a bedroom producer for plugin of such limited scope), but it can be a valuable tool for professional mastering engineers, who want to get the best out of their material and who need this very small percentage of increased sonic quality, that can put them ahead of their competitors, that don't have such a sophisticated and specialised tool at their hand.

One also has to consider that when determining the price of the DeEdger, they might have looked at such overpriced competitors as the bx refinement plugin, which regularly costs 200€! Based on that, their price tag of 100€ might seem reasonable.
