Hi KvRlers
Something new from the lab
21 tracks, Arturia Mini/JP8, Predator, Absynth, Serum, Spire, Dune, Sylenth, Diva,... a pad from the Virus XL and of course my Nord Lead 2x for the typical lead/plucks.
It's the first track mixed without the UAD. I removed the cards from my machine and replaced the last plugin I've used very often with a native version (Sonnox Inflator)
It's now a Slate VMR/VBC/VTM, Sonalksis, NI game + some stuff from Cubase like the Frequency EQ.
BPM: 97
DAW: Cubase 9 Pro

that's quite a lineup.... the tune sounds very good, but that was kind of expected from a pro like you4damind wrote:Hi KvRlers

I remember that you are making some great downtempo stuff in the style I like. This one doesn't dissapoint. Really good tune, great melodies and very tasty lead sounds. Now I want a Nordlead too
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

There is a life without a Nord but it's not worth itrecursive one wrote:I remember that you are making some great downtempo stuff in the style I like. This one doesn't dissapoint. Really good tune, great melodies and very tasty lead sounds. Now I want a Nordlead too

Some things stand out for me.
I felt you could be using space more effectively.
The arp synth-bass I feel is excessive.
I would hold it for some time from the start.
I would cut it on and off every other bar.
I would cut it completely during the middle section.
Use the arp bass don't abuse it. Be more expressive when we hear it.

Thanks annode, this is a good hint. The arp must be mixed more in the background and sometimes muted, so it's not too excessive in the foreground all the time. It seems the filter automation is not enough to bring it more to the background.annode wrote:Some things stand out for me.

This cool track deserves a bump. Digging that groovy bassline. Excellent spacious mix.
On the downside, it doesn't really develop much in this WIP version.
Keep working on it!

Thank you guys!
Yes, it's work in progress... still collecting ideas and make the decision where it makes sense to finish a track
The last 3 ideas are also in this playlist:

Very nice
It all sounded fine as it is to my ears but if it were my track, I would propably remove some midrange frequencies. Or maybe it is the reverb which needs to do its work more on the higher frequencies and less in the bottom.
I'm just talking about ever so slightly changes and personal taste 'cause it does already work as it is.
A very fine example of modern synthesizer music with a red thread all the way back to the eighties.
Cheers
