Ambient groove music/minimal music using two instances of KS processing a modulated noise synth (HALion 6), tweaked live on video...

Post

Just demoing Kaleidoscope and keep getting errors in the way of [OUT] image file: blah not found when attempting to load many a preset.
The library folder is linked.

Any pointers?

Post

hmmm... it seems the Demo version somehow has the full set of factory presets, when it should NOT... it should only have 250 presets, where the full version has >1,100 factory presets. It seems we included the factory presets by accident in the latest update of the demo version.... but a large number of them will be meaningless b/c the associated image/tuning/waveform resources will be missing as you report...

hold on...

Post

I have replaced the demo versions. These new download links now contain the correct limited set of demo-presets:
The Kaleidoscope Demo contains: • 747 Total Files • 250 Presets • 347 Images • 115 Scales • 35 Waveforms
Kaleidoscope Retail contains: • 2,477 Total Files • 1,166 Presets • 945 Images • 254 Scales • 92 Waveforms
All of these demo presets should now find all associated Resource Files in the (limited) "2CAudio Resource Library" that is included in the demo! :tu:

http://2caudio.com/sitecontent/products ... mo_Win.zip

Thanks for pointing out that rather embarrassing problem. Not sure how that one slipped by this long.

(The reason the DEMO does not include the full factory content, is because it would simply be too large of a download (a couple GB) for all the images etc. But 250 presets plus all the demo resources is more than enough to get a sense of what KS is capable of.)

Anyway thanks again for pointing it out. :tu:

Thanks for the lightning fast fix, much obliged!

Just to bump it again.....can't wait for Kaleidoscope 1.2....or will it be even 2.0?
I know, i know, it's ready when it's ready. :D
But since you post your interview you open a can of worms

trust me no one wants to see it more than I do... I've made some absolutely insane things for it... but as I said in the Aether thread:
no ETA yet, as the nature of team dynamics and dependancies always makes predicting deadlines extremely challenging so I have learned (I think) not to make predictions for things that I am not personally 100% in control of.

Since about a year I have been working on gallery tours for my mum's artwork (the visual artist Mary Bauermeister), in my latest tour I heavily used Kaleidoscope, deriving musical textures directly from the pointillistic painting (named Felder und Zentren) which is featured in this tour. This technique becomes more obvious towards the middle and end of the video posted below, as I first created a KS texture and then used Pitch -> Midi (Melodyne 4) to create a Midi file and then trigger other (percussive) sounds with the pitches and velocities provided by the KS texture.

Switch to full screen mode at the bottom right of your browser.

Wow Simon! You come from quite the lineage! :tu: I had a look at your mother's work, and I love it all! :tu: Extremely impressive. Very interesting study of texture and iterative geometries! And of course we all know your father's work too! :tu: I can understand even more now why you "vibe" so well with KS.

I love this specific composition as well. I wish I had a 30min version to listen to while coding or doing graphic/GUI design. I often listen to my own ambient KS works while working too, mostly because I tend to make them very long. I find textural ambient works perfect for deep concentration. It has almost some physiological effect sometimes. I'd love to bathe in some long forms of your work!

I can't wait to hear what you do with the next KS version, whenever we finally release it. :tu: Thanks kindly for your continued passion for and support of KS! You really help make it special!

Thank's Andrew, I've only been getting into my mother's artwork really since last year as there where many years of silence between us before. The stronger our artistic relationship now becomes and I'm totally inspired by her art and she loves my music and sound design (although I have to hurry up as her hearing is getting worse by the minute - it's her 83rd birthday next month).

And I wouldn't want to live without KS anymore musically, it has become such an important tool in my music! I can wait until the next KS version as the current one is already awesome.

EDIT:
Some more fresh KS stuff, inout sources in both demos are stereo-phased ocean waves and stereo white noise from Falcon.

Two instances of KS (drone&texture), some B2/Relayer for creating some space:

One question.... i get a warning with some presets from the 5.5 Static Filter category.... "Displaced Circles 002 was not found". So far just 3 presets (FIR Coat 01, Transport Tube, Tubular Inversion). Did i something wrong or is it "normal"?!
Ah, yes. Good find. I renamed a bunch of resource files at the last minute, and had to batch replace names in the preset files.

Out of 1166 factory presets, I think 3 point to a missing graphic. Not too bad percentage-wise. I knew of only one other one before you found these. We'll fix.
Hey Andrew, was this ever addressed? I just ran across it. I have 1.1.0 installed but don't remember a specific library patcher??

Thanks in advance

Funny, I feel the same way about your subscription/sounds Simon! (along with the constant inspiration from insights into your personal creative process/workflow) :)

But of course, 'Kaleidoscope' is the ground in which curiosity is invited to wander endlessly for us lucky enough to have access to it ;-)

Wow, did not know of your mother until now. I love the things that I can see on the site. Where can I see more?

Just google Mary Bauermeister and you'll find lots of stuff. We're currently working on a digital catalogue/catalogue raisonné including all of her works which will take a year or two :)

Thanks Simon, look forward to that. Really loving her work, especially the untitled straws/wood pieces. I just need to release a platinum selling album, so that I can buy one :)
