Well, I'm not. I agree with his points on Hink, a couple of 'em.
the R word. "retarded" is not a hate word. I may have seen children in grade school hurtfully call someone with actual developmental issues that, but not in life as a grown person.
So the Obama Administration had a directive or something where in governmental official writing you can't say 'retarded'? I apologize for not actually following up and reading all of that.
I wouldn't use it a an insult because it's lame - isn't 'lame' the same quality problem, is that one next on the block? - but I should note there was a bit of a brouhaha when Obama's AG, Holder publicly called some lawmakers, or somebody retarded because they were so lame.

I was in a bad argument with a member who had said 'your retarded imaginary note names' in a string of insults prior to this exchange but now complaining to me about my tone to him, and Hink actually edited my post quoting or paraphrasing that, all asterisks for 'retarded', ruining the sense of my part in an exchange, which isn't even fair.

That is overzealous. The entire forum has to kowtow to one member's personal sense of decorum, yes that's limited insofar as what we've said but where does it end? And I don't care to be told to stick to a PM to Hink with concerns because he can just dismiss it as me, again.

does it matter?

Topics should be posted in the relevant forum. If you are seeking support for a product whose company has an official forum here at KVR please post in the company's forum.
Members should post in a way that is respectful of other users. Flaming or abusing users in any way will not be tolerated and will result in your post being edited / deleted, and you may be issued with a warning and / or a ban.
Posting of any material, or links to any material (images/text/audio/video) deemed by a moderator to be pornographic, inflammatory, inciteful, racist, overtly political, illegal or generally offensive or inappropriate will result in your post being edited / deleted, and you may be issued with a warning and / or a ban.
Members are asked to respect the copyright of other users, sites, media, etc. Users linking to, asking for information about, or blatantly bragging about using, warez, crackz, pirated sample content, re-printing material without permission, etc. will result in your post being edited / deleted, and you may be issued with a warning and / or a ban.
If a thread is locked or deleted this happened for good reason so don't start another thread demanding to know why the first thread was locked/deleted as that too will also be locked/deleted - if you wish to complain about such an incident please contact us privately.
Multiple accounts are, generally, not tolerated. Please do not create more than one account as it may lead to a ban, particularly if it looks like the reason for creating the additional account(s) is to circumvent a sub-forum ban or be used for shilling, trolling, etc.

there are enough people who do find the term generally offensive let alone a hate word which there are many who believe it is a hate word...far better to err on the side of caution and choose one's words more wisely

Logging out and not logging back in is, you know, not the same as deactivating / deleting an account. :hihi: If someone just signs out, his/her account still exists and that user's posting history, music posts, etc. can still be viewed. Perhaps there are some who want to leave and erase all signs that they were ever on KVR. For those people, there should be a deactivation option.

Not to mention those of us who use the Sell and Buy. Leaving an empty account means it could be hacked and then someone could use your good reputation to rip off other members. Deactivating the account is the only way to avoid this.

the rules, which you think no one has ever read, one supposes.

See if you can be arsed to read my post first. I don't use it. I said so right here.
I mentioned the time when I paraphrased dot jon's use of it, bitching about my tone (after he'd said I know nothing of Yahama or any FM at all, something I'm kind of an expert in, just because he, proudly inebriated, found his spot to be abusive) in an abusive tirade about people that had displayed the cajones to insist on spelling triads with actual thirds "Your retarded imaginary note names..." (<-accurate quote) and you made 'retarded' into *******. If you cannot see the overzealousness of that, not to mention how that made my part in an exchange make no sense (before i caught it and went back to replace it), after never doing fuck-all about that abuse where it occurred, you have no business being the person to correct people and make decisions here. it's plain wrong and I do not think this assessment is IN THE LEAST unfair or ill-considered.

As already pointed out, account deactivation and post history deletion are not the same thing. Plus there's no good reason for deleting someone's post history, but several bad ones.

Notwithstanding the fact that if any of their posts were ever quoted, or anyone replied to them, its already been made impossible to 'erase all signs'.

The whole notion is dodgy and ultimately pointless. Nothing prevents a poster from coming back, even if their old account is closed, and vandalising the database for some dubious demand for anonymity is impossible.
