Is there any? As far as my research goes only Phase Distortion plugin exists is by Kilohertz and its reletivly new.

And before posting this, yes i tried to google, but all the results are unfortunetly about Phase Distortion based synthesizers :(

Does something like iZotope Trash 2 do phase distortion?

And there is this, which was just released: Audio Thing Wave Box

There's also Temper, haven't bought it yet since at the moment I'm looking for a more versatile distortion plugin, but sounds very nice to my ears.

Thank you! I will try that :-)

Nope none of those do phase distortion. Maybe you mix up with asymmetrical?

Also phase distortion sounds a little bit different. Sometimes reminds a bit FM sound or like foldback on Repro 1

Kilohertz sounds really awesome on bass mid-highs (you have to separatate the bands). Doesnt sound like a typical distortion :)

Funny I have the exact same question at the moment. I want it to process hihat samples especially. What's your use case?

I like the phase distortion in the waves abbey roads vinyl, but I don't like waves too much. But maybe I end with this thing...

Logic apparently has a stock PD effect:

Apperently it's a delay modulated by a low-passed version of the incoming signal itself?

Blue Cat's Destructor (a fabulous plug!) has a phase control in its dynamics section for the waveshaper:
Blue Cat Audio wrote:It is actually quite different from a delay: this is a phase shifting filter that continuously shifts the phase, and the frequency you choose is the center frequency for the shift. So all frequencies are delayed with a different amount, resulting in very strange "wah-ish" effects around the center frequency when using large amounts.

not really the answer you are looking for but you can cook something like this up in Reaktor in a matter of minutes.i'm assuming that the Kilohearts one is based upon the same method that the Logic phase distortion uses ( input sent to a lowpass filter which then has its phase modulated at audiorate aka really short delay line)

The Destructor wont do this because that is just a static Allpass filter before the transfer curve.if there is no way to modulate the Allpass filter, then it wont do what he wants

Another similar-ish option is synths with FX versions that do phase and or frequency modulation of the input e.g FM8(definitely not),Albino,Cypher, some of the arturia plugins (there are others too,but that's all i remember for now)

Edit:just tried it with FM8 anyway and they sound nothing alike :D

The KiloHearts plugin sounds pretty good IMHO, plus you can use it
in the excellent (free Snap heap), or Multipass if you have it.

Of course, its 4x the price of Temper, if you don't have any of their stuff.
I bought it for $20, KiloHearts stuff is actually very nice if you haven't tried them.

The entire "snap-in" line is fairly costly, but its possible to save
quite a lot with sales and whatnot.

-Cheers

*btw: The Ring Thrasher effect in Inear Display's Amalgame is
also a phase distortion unit, albeit a not too subtle one.
