Resident Tracktion programmer Roland Rabien explores the classic landscape of game console synthesis. Creating emulations of some of the most iconic chips including the Ricoh A203 (Nintendo), PAPU (Gameboy), MOS Technology SID (Commodore 64, 128 & MAX) and TI SN76489 (Sega, BBC etc). Remarkably simple and fun, these sounds defined a generation of game play

Wait... loot _then_ burn? D'oh!

I like the simple installation, just have to add dll's to vst folder. I like the low CPU load.

I like the sound of the SID, in this layout it is like a cunning little 3xOSC synth :tu:

Well yes, but why? There just seems to be an endless craze for 8 bit plugins, it's quaint perhaps but I don't see what is so exciting.

If you don't like it, look the other way, don't let it ruin your day

There is also an endless craze for analog synths of the 70's, that are like stoneage primtive compared to top of the line products du jour :P

Each to his own

That would be an ignorant approach, I'm trying to understand it, ignoring it isn't going to teach me anything

I guess that's the only valid reason.

Calling the sounds "crappy" in your initial post doesn't really come across as just innocently trying to understand it.

Some people like those types of sounds. I'm not sure what sort of hard evidence would work in this case.

If trying to understand something, you need to have a more open mind. It seems based on your posts, you have already made a decision that 8-bit based plugs are crap
