I guess like me you purchased early, before the password protected updates started. Just send an email to the dev and he'll get it sorted.

Thanks!

VariKusBrainZ, I just put you on the email update list.
Ariston, you were already on it.

I'm glad to see that Fathom is getting some visibility with high ranking officers here.

The big changes recently have been the wave table oscillator,
and Bezier curves in both the modulator envelopes and draw oscillators.

The last release fixed a bunch of bugs, especially the stability of the polar filter, found by RPH.

Next up is an 8 channel non-linear modulating Phasor.
Then I will be doing some oscillator redesign to increase the saw partials up to Nyquist
based on some interesting research by Overhishead.

Ugh, I can't seem to get the pitch ADSR to sound consistant when I create a kickdrum.
Every hit sounds different, like analog, but I would like to be able to control it.
Could it be that the Sine waveform is freerunning?

My kickdrum preset as example ( play at A2 ):
Wobblekick(new).zip

Feature requests:

If the Sine is freerunning, it would be great to have an option to have it optional ( freerunning or not ).
So a kickdrum would sound the same at every hit.

An other thing I think would be handy is to be able to change note tracking for at least the basic audio component ( not just noise and filter ), so e.g. I can create a kickdrum that sounds the same at any pitch or only react at note C2 or so.
To take this further drumkits could be made in Fathom with either per note a drum / perc / hat sound or overlapping sounds ( e.g. drum + hat at range C2 - C3 ).

Note tracking options:
- Note tracking On
- Note tracking Off ( just use pitch, fine for tuning )
- Sound only at note X ( e.g. C2 ).

Just an idea.

Cheers,

Rob

Yeah, that's a really good idea.
I'll see if there's a way to work that into the interface.

For the current kick drum sin try going to the Detune page and
and moving the Trigger toggle back from Free to Note.

It should then start the sin wave at the start of the waveform every time.

The 8 Channel Phasor will be released tomorrow.

Each channel can operate independently in several different modes including an oscillator cycle phasor, simple buffer flanger, or classical analog phasor driven by all pass filters.

Each channel includes its own filter with five different filter types, used for phasing in your choice of frequency domains on each channel.

Has anyone written any commercially available sound packs/pre-sets for this beast yet?

It has attracted some interest from professional sound designers
but I think they are waiting for a future release with more critical features.

To be honest I would love to have a sound designer create an additional factor bank.

This seems to be very important these days. From monsters like Synthmaster to the simple Tal un o lx, alot of folks want the work already done. I cant say I blame them, good SD takes time to do even if you are experienced. I find it enjoyable to design on things like Fathom where you can get quite deep. However, the production side doesnt have time for this. Nor does it have time to browse 3,000 basses. Somewhere there is good middle ground.

My 2 cents....

I am a fan of player patches, arps and sequences and dreamy evolving pads.

Not a big fan of U HE presets though I really like the synths.

I like AIR presets though I dont like programming their synths

Waves Element has some of the most brilliant presets I have ever heard and it is a joy to program although not that deep. Dont like the browser.

Sythmaster strikes a good balance between for me. Which is probably why I like Fathom so much. They are very similar in alot of ways.

Bottom line. Sounds need to be diverse in genre, of high quality, reasonable depth and layed out in a browser that promotes quick workflow.

I agree Fathom needs a little more development before a truly comprehensive bank can be developed, but she is o so close.

Fathom has great potential to be a goto for pros and hobbyist alike.

For every one using Fathom....take time to upload some of your presets to the Fathom product page. I will make more of an effort myself. No matter what they are. Its fun to share.
