I'm looking at the Gearslutz top 10 soft synths and they mention twice that Massive is a Reaktor synth. Now, I have Massive and Reaktor, but they're not together at all. Am I missing something?

If I remember right they did use reaktor to make some of it.

Massive is not a "Reaktor synth" in the same way that say Kontour or Spark are. That doesn't mean that it wasn't prototyped in Reaktor.

It is not. There is some confusion because there was also an NI-released ensemble for Reaktor named Massive. But it's a drum machine that has nothing to do with Massive the VST, except that they reused the name.

The person who developed Massive, Mike Daliot, was originally a Reaktor ensemble developer and although Massive is not a Reaktor ensemble you can see its conceptual ancestry in ensembles like Kaleidon, and particularly Photone (which also have some similarities in sound design)

" The programming team wrote certain aspects from scratch, while the modules that had been prototyped in Reaktor had to be optimised and translated into C++. Graphic designers also got involved at an early stage, reflecting NI's increasing focus on usability. A core application programmer developed the main shell, and other sections were coded separately. "It's kind of modular," says Frank. "The oscillator section is separate from the filter section, all the master effects are different modules that are simply plugged into the application.""

There is an ensemble which is called 'massive' , which was part of reaktor 5.0
It's more of a sample based groovebox , a good one if your into that kind of stuff
You can find it in the library
