Postby egbert101; Sun Nov 19, 2017 1:19 pm Best Effects Version Of An Instrument [Another Damn List]

I had no luck with this post in the effects forum, but since it's related to instruments, I'll try and get a response here. So here is my questions:

Okay this is a bit of an interesting one: Suppose you really like the multieffects in a instrument, but there is no effect version of the VSTi. That would be a real bummer. But then, suppose there is a multieffects version included with the VSTi, and you could have access to those glorious effects with any other instrument? That would rock wouldn't it? :hihi:

So, I'm interested in VSTi instruments that have an effects version, and would love to know what you think are the best ones to use in your projects?

Reaktor 6 FX... :hihi:

Seriously though, the only one I use occasionally is Absynth FX. Still rather unique until this day. :)

Obvious answer: zebrify, I also use the old fxpansion synth squad effects and the now defunct tassman on occasion.

z3ta+ 1.5 a full multifx suite, and huge set of presets from all
the synth sounds, great fun picking the keepers for guitar scmhalz!

My vote goes to XFer Records SerumFX. Actually it's the only one I really use. But the one from Zebra is excellent too.

Been tinkering with Softube Modular FX lately, certainly some interesting, if not always useable, sounds to be had feeding audio into oscillators, triggering fx with sequencers, etc.

Thanks so far. I won't count Reaktor or Softube Modular, as I see them as not individual instruments. Also, I have Cakewalk Z3TA 2+, and although the effects are nice, there is no FX version with version 2.

So, it looks like only Serum or Zebra FX versions so far. What makes them special? And which is better?

Have you asked Cakewalk for an NFR copy of the older version?

z3ta+ V1.5 was a ComputerMusicMag cover-giveaway, and I think still available
as a download if you buy the digital version of the back issue through Zinio,
and use their download 'vault' to get the month's softwares.

You'd also get CM Fuzz, a very nice remake of CamelCrusher multi-effect,
with distortion, compressor, filter, and a randomizer.

Beat Magazine from Germany also has an issue gifting V1.5

Also, Bitwig 8Track includes the full fx section from the main daw,
shows up in the marketplace here sometimes, and is bundled with
some cheap midi controllers that go on sale sometimes for $70

I'm only looking at current instruments with FX versions, that are still being developed.

Yeah, but it's a multieffect and not strictly an FX version of an instrument. Also, not a fan of MeldaProductions effects, with a few exceptions. Most are horribly overcomplicated too.

FM8 has some nice ones and you can use the effects separately from the synth too.
