Hybrid 3 (Plugin Boutique)

I can't resist getting a plugin at this price!

I got a pack of 5 expansions for Hybrid3 awhile back, part of the AIEP3 upgrade
associated with xPand!2 sometimes, and they're quite nice, especially
if you can get them on sale. Lots more of what's good about Hybrid3.

Hybrid 3 looks like a capable synth and I watched some demos on YT, but it just does not seem sufficiently different or remarkable to warrant adding to my already bloated collection of instruments. Likewise for the other Air Music instruments that often become available as a relatively inexpensive upgrade once you own one of their products.

If a person is just starting out making computer music then the deal is spectacular.

A big recommendation for http://www.freelancesoundlabs.com/ for anyone with the xpand!, hybrid 3 and Vacuum Pro (or other synths he supports). .. This developer has made configuration for the NI - NKS standard for use within Komplete Kontrol. Once installed the synths and presets appear in Komplete Kontrol where all presets can be previewed by sound (yes thousands of them) and the controls are mapped logically to the Kontrol keyboard. His stuff shows up under the user tab in Komplete Kontrol.

He is a student ... does great work, prices are reasonable. If you are an NI Komplete Kontrol user, his stuff is worth checking out. Support the guy. - Scotty

Maybe to get you to use iLok, it's a slippery damn slope. I got a free UVI soundbank a couple of years ago, that broke the ice and now I'm a happy iLok user. See how that works?

They used iLok long before they decided to give their stuff away virtually for free.
Also, iLok might prevent transfers because the iLok fee is much higher than the price of 1 euro.

As an owner of SynthMaster and SM One I wonder what the difference is between these synths (soundwise).

Honestly I don't use SM that much, am happy with MUX at the moment.

Also, when reading AIR's descriptions of the one buck expansions, they all have about the same text. I am more into the 80's DM sound than house really. Are any of these expansions worth having for me?

I only demo'd SM One briefly, but, i'd say they're very similar sound wise.

Hybrid 3 is really a cool synth. Not sure about SM one ADSR but hybrid is linear. Cool for some things limiting for others. Even if you just used Hybrid as a preset player its still pretty cool. That wsy you dont have to go blind.

Hybrid 3 is a good synth and IMO worth more than 1 euro. It has the least flawed interface from all AIR synths , great sequencer and buttload of FX. Also, tones of presets. It's the easient synth to make uplifting trance, if that's what you're after. But I wouldn't recommend it for any sound design enthusiasts.
