What's your easiest synth to coax nice sounds from?

Someone mentioned HG Fortune's Alien Space Weaver Pro earlier in this thread. I hadn't thought about that guy's synths for a while, so I went looking for it. I think his name was Gunter and when he passed away some time ago all his synths became available for free. They are all developed with SynthEdit, so they won't win any awards for advanced DSP modeling, but there really are some amazing sounds contained within them. Here are a couple links in case anyone is interested. One is for tons of synths, and the other is for extra preset banks for them. The one mentioned in this thread is ASW-PRO-NFG.zip. Some of the synths are in the preset list and vice versa. For instance, the Astral Dreamer synth is in with the presets and the filename is NFG-AD.zip. Make sure to get the extra bank 5 for that one. Altair 4 was always a favorite of mine, also, for space noises. Anyway, maybe someone will find something they think is cool for free.

This : and this as well:braj wrote:For me it has to be LuSH-101. Every time I sit down with it, I am just in heaven and making new patches without frustration. Some other synths I love are much more challenging to get something good out of it as easily.

I don't really approach things that way, it's all rather nebulous these days for me but I must say the most happening preset I got lucky with, in my life, was in Massive. I get on best with Absynth and the most basic thing I can say is my experience with Yamaha/Chowning FM really helped me here. A certain way of thinking about sound. Also, too, tape music, weirdly enough.
I have a large bank of work in Absynth going back to 2005. Sometimes it's in the ballpark, sometimes it's Oh God No for a while and I carve away at things. Once, I had something going and the basic sound design very much happening and I landed on something in Massive which was very much in the ballpark and I basically just assigned controllers to it. Needed a lead and BAM. I forget the patch, but it was written by a man with a Spanish or Portugese surname. I suspect he's known for it. Maybe Manuel something. Just gorgeous. I went and bought the thing after that, I had to use it.
