This entire forum is wading through predictions, opinions, barely formed thoughts, drama, and whining. If you don't enjoy that, why are you here? :D ShawnG

I have both. I haven't use the HD280s since I've received the K271s.

don't know the K271.... but have experience with K-612 (own) and K-240 MKII (a friend owns a pair)
... one is more detailed and the later seems a bit flatter in freq response, especially mid-highs... anyway, can recommend both! :) Just give them a fair/good burn-in, AKG headphones seem to be notorious in requiring many hours of burn-in to smooth them out a bit as they are always on a bright side a bit more.... that's no problem though, you can spot details in a sound more accurately. It's best if you can go to a store and try out different models, the online dummy-head tests are simply unreliable! :)

Closed headphones are too hefty for the ears if you work a lot with it.

I prefer the AKG

I've had 2 pairs of the 240MKII and currently am using the 712

Those senns are very comfortable, I used to dj with them very long sessions and they never hurt my ears.

I would suggest going to a store and try them both.
