Apparently sculpture has a new High Quality mode, that's gonna be interesting to check out. While working with these optimization s, they hopefully saw how small and outdated some of the UIs look on a 5K screen.

Sweet! High Definition mode makes a significant difference! What a nice little surprise!
If you have existing projects and/or presets, just switching to HD without checking is not recommended. It can significantly affect the sound... and not necessarily in a good way in the sense of keeping the sound as you expect it.
Very glad to have the HD mode... with some sounds switching it on and then it is what I have wished it were.
Now Sculpture just needs a new GUI!

Ah so high res sound, not interface? Good but damn!
Where am I looking to toggle this mode? All I see is the usual resolution slider.
ah got it - have to open out the sub section - it's a render mode

Yup... render mode is a confusing term...aMUSEd wrote:Ah so high res sound, not interface? Good but damn!

Yeah 'render' makes it sound like it's offline but clearly from the sound this is realtime too

Exactly... And yeah, it is obviously realtime... and interesting to see how different sounds change when switching.aMUSEd wrote:Yeah 'render' makes it sound like it's offline but clearly from the sound this is realtime too
For example, one bouncing preset bounces less in HD mode. In other cases, the softness of the sound changes and becomes a sharper sound. Overall I like the HD sound better, but I need to do some experimenting to learn where I can tweak a preset to get the original character back but with the higher fidelity. In some cases I'll just leave it on basic. I've wanted this higher quality setting for a long time!

not a very exciting update, automation is still outdated...
Several month between to minor updates, Reaper does more updates every week !

The new Render Mode uses internal oversmapling to gain headroom and the result is not better or worse, it is just different. Depening on the material, pitch, and other parameters the difference is more or less audible.
Because it is "modeling synthesis", it is all about math and the different results of those equations depending on rounding errors and frequency ranges.
