Thanks for this goodie. Didn't know it exists. :tu:

Indeed, the individual treatment of each voice/key has a flavour (that's why Dune is so interesting imo). Just varying the glide time of each voice already provides neat effects.

Well, thats a good question. In fact its THE question and obviously i dont have an answer either.

But anyway, the point is that even a small percentage can be most significant. If say a VCF emulation is almost there, but there is that last smidgen of authenticity missing, people are gonna want that last smidgen especially if it is responsible for the very bit that makes the whole filter interesting in the first place.

As youve pointed out, when and where such a difference is actually perceivable enough to really matter varies. And thats understood. But when its there, its there, and as ghettosynth pointed out, the bit thats missing may well be exactly what people wanted most, even if its just a comparable small percentage of the whole thing. And that i agree with.
Right, but I’d say that we’re weighing differences differently. It reminds me of digital characters in movies. Like Tarkin and Leia in Rogue 1. I instantly thought, “Uh. Crap. Why did they do that? Just find similar looking actors and we’ll get it.” However, my wife, not a Star Wars fan, had no idea they were CGI. So, to her, they’d created 100% emulations, but to me they seemed like 20% at best, and I’m not even saying I’m rating that as recreations of Fisher and Cushing, I’m saying as recreations of people. So who’s right, me or my wife? Wel, my wife, of course. The wife is always right! :hihi:

So, maybe I can play something like RePro and not be bumped by the flaws, because I never owned a Pro One or Prophet 5. My only relationship with them is via records where they’re part of a mix and engineered in various ways. Something like Diva would often bump me though, as I heard flaws not in how well they modeled the original synths, but in how they modeled analog in general. Not to say that it doesn’t sound great doing most sounds. I’m just saying that it would often seem very far from an actual analog synth.

Another factor is... who cares? I love digital synths. Sometimes the more digital sounding, the better. It’s just another flavor for me to use. I don’t buy synthesizers based on their tech as much as I buy them based on their character. Is Trueno worth buying for it’s character? Maybe. The first demo sounded promising, but not overwhelming. I’ll have to explore more.

Like a cheesy boring old Juno? Well that's because soft synths are absolute trash.
Well i guess Xhip are trash then.

As Trueno is a hybrid hardware/software product, it
works differently from the plugins you may already use.
We’ve worked hard to keep the latency as low as
possible whilst reducing clicks and retaining the timing
accuracy you expect from a modern sequencing
system. The points below should help you to get the
best performance out of Trueno:
Adaptive latency compensation: Trueno has built in
adaptive latency compensation. This works out the
amount of latency caused by sending data to the device
and receiving audio back. The amount of latency is
dependant on many things: the audio interface buffer
size and what other programs are running on your
computer for example. It is recommended you reopen
your project if you begin to notice timing issues, this
will reset the internal averaging of the latency
compensation.
Audio Interface: To ensure optimal timing accuracy
when sequencing, we recommend you record with
your audio interface set to a buffer size of 256 samples
or fewer.
So in fact it does NOT work differently than the plugins we already use.
JFC you must think we're idiots.

When the world has been a hard place, good things can be difficult to accept.
Yeah, for me no one who resorts to this kind of argumentation can be trusted whatsoever.
And the failure to get a dumb joke, another bad sign.

Yeah, hopefully you are no sales guy as you said above this post. But are you shilling HARD. NB: some of us have experience with the vintage REAL ANALOGS!1!!!11

It may even be some of this 'some of us' are among those who aren't easily moved by bullshitters. Having had a long, hard life and like that. :D

Wonder how long the warranty is for these... I've had two XV-5050 rack modules (#2 replaced the original for about a year before it too died) poop out on me for no discernible reason, and since I'm not a specialist in electronics repair, or currently making enough disposable income to buy/replace hardware, I tend to favor virtual instruments, however "unreal" they may be.

Hope those that buy it have fun with the anadongle.

Discontinue use if rash or irritation develops.

Maybe there will be a virtual version of this down the line. Falseno. You know, unreal analog, finally.

I bought one and I have been playing with it for a few days now.
I have created an article with a few videos and sound examples that can be found here:
https://www.facebook.com/notes/thesynth ... 537433092/

It's sound is very different from other analog synths I own. When they say on their website the filter is "wild" and "aggressive", they really mean it!

I love the concept, it works like a plugin but it is an analogue synth! I hope they will expand it with polyphony or bidirectionnal audio in the future (to use it as a filter with any audio source). This product reminds me the Waldorf AFB 16 (a USB filter bank controlled by VSTs), it was ahead of its time in 2004. I hope Trueno will be more successful.

Ok so Breakthru bought one, have anyone else bought it? Really difficult to find any actual video of people using it.
Maybe because of toyota trueno vids :hihi:

Damn. It aint polyphonic?

Mono. Though you maybe could sample it easily with https://www.discodsp.com/bliss/ if you want to use it on making pads etc.

*edit*

Not sure if you can do it with Bliss but u can definitely make an easy sampling with http://shop.samplerobot.de/product_info ... 157e9224bf
