Thanks.
Now for that UberMod ;)

Fleer,

I do not own the UberMod - and not too sure if I would.

Just a bit too outside for my tastes.

Best chorus in town :)

Experimenting with using VVV as an Early Reflection/Haas Delay generator, for mastering applications, to increase space and depth in mixes, after reading about it in the latest edition of the Katz book. Valhalla Room seemed ideal for this (see my preset in the other thread) as it has more control over early vs. late reflections, but I came up with something that worked pretty well with VVV too.

Mix it in very low with the source mix (maybe down 12 to 24 dB compared to the dry mix, for starters). I liked the sound of the Room algo best for this purpose, but of course you can flip through to hear them all. It really can make some stuff sound a lot better. For more trippiness, turn the mod depth up a little bit. ;)

Preset Request incoming!

This may be a bit vague overall, but I'm interested in any presets / tips / approaches to this type of sound, generally --

I've been listening to the album "Man Amplified" by Clock DVA a ton recently. It's from 1992. The sounds on the album have *a lot* of reverb on them, and to my ears (especially via headphones) it's this really wide, smooth, clear reverb. It really adds a lot to the mix and the 'feel' of the songs.

Below are two excellent examples: listen to the clear washes of reverb on the synths and the piano parts. The songs wouldn't be the same without them.

My attempts to get this sort of 'big clear mix' reverb sound end up being way too messy / muddy. So I'd appreciate any tips on how to clean it up and get this kind of effect going. I have all the Valhalla reverb plugins, btw, so its somewhat arbitrary that I'm posting in the VVV sub-forum.

any help is much appreciated, thanks!

Interesting stuff with very deliberate production, I'd never heard them before. Everything is mixed in its own sonic space both directionally and frequency-wise. It's giving me some ideas for a project I'm working on now - thanks!

Clearly a lot of the effect of the reverbs come from the continual panning and what sounds like a steep high-pass filter (probably at least 600-1000hz?). I hear some longer verbs with a decay of at least 2.5-3 seconds, and also a tighter ambience (or maybe stereo chorus/flanging/doubling) on some elements, notably the bass.

I can't say this patch nails it, but it's inspired by the parameters above and sounds good on mid-tempo synth bass, piano, and arpeggiated keys on a buss followed with a slow auto-pan. To me the critical elements are a clear-ish Mode, high LowCut frequency, and a low-ish BassMult value. Changing Color to "Now" will open up the top end further, as would raising HighShelf frequency. MOD settings are subject to taste, I tend to like more with lower Size values.

@Winstontaneous -- thanks so much for your input! Some really interesting ideas in there, will definitely try them out tonight (and your patch). The idea of putting an auto-pan after the verb is especially interesting, thanks! Cheers, -M

Huge ClockDVA fan here, they are playing in Italy soon. ;) Buried Dreams is my absolute fave.

I'd suggest pre and post EQ to get the reverb to sit better with the track.

Re-listening to Man Amplified again today, fab album! The reverbs just sound like nice Large Hall style algorithms to me, but maybe Sean might have a better idea?

Hello,
Here is a ZIP file of all of the GearSlutz vVerb presets taken from December 2012 to September 2017.

Link: https://www.gearslutz.com/board/product ... -50-a.html

There are 25 contributors with 80 presets in total.

Note: It is possible that some of these presets are duplicates of others from the KVR forums. Therefore, these presets are provided "as is".

Hello,

It would appear that the "KVR_vVerb_All.zip" and Tp3's "ValhallaVintageVerb Designer Presets 4 KvR.rar" are similar preset packages.

I had uploaded mine on Thu Oct 19, 2017 9:03 pm, and Tp3 uploaded his on Fri Oct 20, 2017 11:23 pm.

I "gather" that user-created presets, when made available to others, become "Designer Presets".

Tp3's pack comes with 20 folders and 266 files.
My pack comes with 20 folders and 236 files, some of which are newer than the one in Tp3's pack.

I will compare the differences and provide an updated combined package.

Hello,

Due to the potential confusion between myself and Tp3, I have checked the Valhalla KVR forum for any preset listings for VintageVerb and have compiled this listing in the attached ZIP file. These are the presets that are mentioned on the ValhallaDSP, KVR forum only and therefore, no other presets have been provided!
Note: This being said, I will provide any and all other presets in a separate posting at a later time.

As of today, there are a total of 17 contributors and 152 presets. The presets are sorted by contributor name.

A list of the current contributors are, 3ee, Beatworld, Boulotaur2024, caulixtla, Cimbasso, codec_spurt, Den, grumpy.b, Hermetech Mastering, Ingonator, Krakatau, ontol, robertszalapski, Sampleconstruct, tchibo, valhallasound and Winstontaneous - and I thank you for your contributions.

Note: Through other means, - I am just not too sure at the moment, but it might have been Tp3, all of the presets but two that were provided by Cimbasso have been located. The preset from codec_spurt is still unavailable however. If anyone has these presets, please let me know so that they could be added to this listing. Apparently others have commented and attempted to contact these folks - but to no avail. The missing presets are listed in a text file within their respective contributor folders.

Included in the ZIP file is a ReadMe.txt file noting the name of the contributor and the KVR site source for the preset as the author oftentimes provided comments on usage and such.

Note: As Tp3 had mentioned, place these enclosed preset folders in the Designer preset folder.

Update: TP3's posting of Fri Oct 20, 2017 11:23 pm, where he provides the "ValhallaVintageVerb Designer Presets 4 KvR.rar" file, contains many of the presets from the KVR_All.zip that I had posted on the 19th - and which has since been removed. That rar file contains many duplicates as well as presets not listed on the vVerb forum. I will be providing those presets in a subsequent posting here.

Also, there is another rar file, called, "480 & PCM for Vee3.rar", which actually contains many of the "missing" presets from Cimbasso - and interestingly, all without naming the original author of those presets.

Lastly, Justin Case and Cimbasso are one and the same person, so I would expect that these presets would be identical.
