I'm so bummed that Cubase doesn't have a controller like thatdeastman wrote: Ableton Live with Push 2 is a really great combination, but I’m guessing you don’t want to switch from Cubase.

I went for Maschine MK3. I really hope it's what I look for workflow-wise.
I actually tried Circuit and it's a really good mini-studio/inspiration/live drum machine but I felt like now when I have nothing as my "main" instrument I wanted to have something slightly more advanced. But the Circuit might be my next buy. It's so fun to use and brings inspiration under a minute!
