Is it normal for Fathom with a simple two "Analog Saw" patch to take a Gig of memory ?

Here's the patch in question:

The v2.7 Free mono 64bit (MT) works just fine in Reaper. Almost halves the cpu cost vs running the 23-bit bridged. Also drops memory use from 16Gb to 9Gb with my 23 instances of Fathom project.

So, many thanks for the quick fix.

PS A quick question re importing waves in to a new wave table oscillator ... how many samples long is a full cycle of a user waveform for import? e.g. if I have a nice choir type sound I want to program into the wavetables, how many samples (or length perhaps?) should my sample to be imported?

Only 9Gb? :o
I don't even have 9Gb.
That seems a bit of a problem for those of us without a beastly machine like yours.

Can you do that with the mono version?
From the Fathom page:
The Mono and Pro versions are identical except for the Pro features:

Save/Load User Edited Waveforms

Import/Export Single Cycle WAV

Based on some earlier posts in this thread. The number of samples doesn't matter. I have imported with 2048, 1024 and arbitrary ( simply chopped at zero crossings on a single cycle). It took everything fine.

Ah yes, I thought I had tried it and it seemed to work (???), but as documented, it doesn't. So, no new wavetables for the OSC then. That sort of solves the age old problem with using wavetable enabled synths though - makes BJ's job a little easier!

The Adventure Kid Waveforms will load in Fathom.

Here's a crude and hastily thrown together patch using the AK waveforms.....

Just be aware that the adventure kid waveforms are not tuned in C...
But Elektron (the synthesizer company) have "fixed" them and at least before they were downloadable for free.

Try the test patch above. It's in tune with other synths........

I just downloaded them again......for free.

I'll try the free Galbanum waveforms next......

You can also draw your waves and create your own tables. Not sure what BJ's take on that would be but I would think if you could create anything with the synths native functions (draw waves and use those for wavetables) that importing single cycle waves would not be a big deal. It is not like samples.

Why not take advantage of all the great waveforms out there ? The Galbanum Demo waves load just fine....

Hi everyone, sorry about the new Fathom page price.

I thought I had the sale programmed to continue but I guess not, I will fix that today.

Also I'll go over the questions above in more detail later today.

The memory is high because HF real time anti-alias control requires 100 buffers x 16384 samples per waveform buffer x 5 spline buffers floats per sample x 4 bytes per float = 32,768,000 = 32 MB per oscillator. Not sure why it is showing up as 1 GB per oscillator. I will recheck my math and the code and get back to you here.

I think I need to make the buffer size a setting, since 16384 samples per buffer is super high quality but excessive on memory. People with less memory than my 64 GB should be able to change this.

Exactly, I think we are all saying he same thing. It has loaded everything I threw at it exept Aiff files and it may do that now that it is Mac capable. I even tried a 5 second sample. It took it but didnt play the sample as the sample... lol it played some crazy high freq thing. Probably because there were several single cycles in that sample. So it probably just ran up the frequency due to multiple singke cycles. I think I was hoping it would slice it for me.

Thanks for the link too.

Ok, I'm doing something wrong, Fathom always thinks the presets are in drive G: how do I change it ? I have been using it on a USB stick so the drive letter changes depending on what else I have plugged in at the same time. I have noticed the XML has gone AWOL.

Are the "fixed" waveforms available for download anymore? I did not see any links for them here: https://www.elektron.se/soundpacks/
