Sounds good, but the Free version doesn't allow loading/saving of user edited waveforms.

Ahh I see....more the reason to buy the full version. :D

But Elektron (the synthesizer company) have "fixed" them and at least before they were downloadable for free.
Are the "fixed" waveforms available for download anymore? I did not see any links for them here: https://www.elektron.se/soundpacks/
I found no problem with the wavs in the link I provided. Granted I spent only a few minutes in a proof of concept but the wavs I loaded were in tune............

I think I found a suitable download location for the waveforms (or a reasonable facsimile of them): http://www.inspektorgadjet.com/item/waveforms-library/

OK, Everyone, here's some more detailed answers to today's questions:

Dotorbob, good news, I’m glad 2.7 fixed the Reaper problem.

Frostline, OK, Soon I will add a setting page and I will make the waveform buffer size settable so you can reduce the RAM.

Teksonik, The extra memory is caused by the bicubic spline buffer which multiplies the memory required for each oscillator by 5. I will also make this a setting, so you can turn it off.

Teksonik, yes the Galbanum waves are awesome, I think I will put a link to them on the Fathom website.

Bibz1st, if you need to changes drives for the presets go into the browser and copy and paste the complete path including the new drive letter into the top edit box and it will change to that folder on a different drive. The folder up button can not go up past the current drive, so you need to paste it in.

XML has gone AWOL, what exactly happened?

Frostline, Doctorbob, for importing WAV, Scrubbing Monkeys is correct, the number of samples does not matter. As long as it is a single cycle, Fathom will load all the samples and convert them all proportionally into its own 1024 samples per wave draw GUI, and 16384 samples per oscillator cycle. Also it does not matter what note the WAV is tuned to, Fathom just uses it as a single cycle for any note.

When I add a sampler to Fathom it will be smart enough to know a WAV is a full sample instead of a single cycle. Then it will do frequency detection and load it as a sample. What is happening now is that it thinks the entire sample is one cycle and it plays it as one cycle, which is why it sounds like HF atonal distortion.

If you want to pull a single cycle from a sample and load it in to Fathom, currently you have to load it into Audacity first and chop out a single cycle you want to use, then save it as WAV and load it into Fathom.

With 23 instances of Fathom free 2.7 , in the Reaper Performance Meter I get this ...

Total cpu 1%
RT Cpu 1.2%

RAM Use: 3783 Mb
34 FX 10.6% cpu

So overall cpu use (incuding 11 other fx, e.q. reaeq !) is around 14%

No glitches ...

Excellent.

Thanks Everett for the 2.7 update!

And thanks to Scrubbing Monkeys for the new presets and wave tables!

Watching this impressive synth get better and better, (at least partially) based on player input, is a beautiful thing! Keep rockin'!!!

Doctorbob, OK that is useful data, the numbers look pretty good.
At some point I will vectorize the main processor code and that will be a huge improvement.

SciFiArtMan, Thanks, Yes his new preset bank is pretty killer.

Aha thanks for that, as for the XML, I think that may be my fault deleting it, will it generate a new one at some point ?

I know that this synth has been building since 2014 but since it appeared here on KVR it has been fascinating to watch it grow at pace.

Ha! I didn't even see it! Or is this some kind of Freudian parlor trick? Words and communications are harder than they look, sometimes! Thanks for the illumination! :)

And thanks for the new vid, SM!

Hi Everett,

Congrats on the 2.6 and 2.7 release of Fathom!
From what I could tell here so far the additional partials really make a big difference.
Haven't had a lot of time to really check the sound with everything, did update my currently new patches already.
FYI: Memory usage here when I completely fill the component view with all kinds of audio components is about 2.8GB.

I've been busy sampling my wavetable card, so far got 47 single cycle waveforms to use in Fathom.

Questions / requests:
- Been wondering if it's possible to have the wavetable component output the single cycle waveforms in stereo? As I saved mine in Stereo.
- Import more then one waveform at a time in the wavetable component, and have them evenly distributed?

@Scrubbing Monkeys: Nice video, and funny to hear the crickets in the background adding to the atmosphere of the vid. ;)

Cheers,

Rob

PS:
The copy function is still acting strange here.
Sometimes lose either a few or all inserted components after closing the windows or saving a patch.
Or when recalling a patch get the copyable components back after thinking that they were not there.

SM, I put your new video at the top of the thread.

Great video by the way! This one really gets into some advanced methods.
It's cool people can see what can be done with a single instance of Fathom.

There's also a new EDM Demo I did for the web site, which makes use of the 400 partials and ZDF filter sweeps.
