Thank you, Xenakios.

Thanks for this great plugin!

Here's a small demo of something that I got out of it. To me it has a bit of an "Inception" sound track vibe. :)

The source was a snippet of the following:

Quite different, isn't it?

Hi,
First a big thank you for this plugin!
I hope it's okay to ask this here.
1)
On Reaper I have a problem to render out audio from the plugin. When I apply fx to take (a time selection) I get portions of audio in a row like a gate effect. How is it done to render maybe 10 Mins from a audio source in Reaper?
The same happens if I render to file.
Would be glad to get an advice.
2)
In the orignal software of Paul Stretch there was a indicator for the length of the actual stretched audio, I found that useful.
Would that be possible to be in the plugin as well?
Thanks a lot, Stefan

I tried it today in Wavelab Pro, and I got some interesting results. However, when I chose to render the results, I got an error warning, and no rendering possible.

Anyway, thanks for your work on this. I'll try it with other hosts.

1) Do you have the preference in Reaper on for "Inform plugins of offline rendering state"? (It's in the VST preferences page.) Alternatively, you could try turning the prebuffering off in the plugin from the menu that opens by clicking the prebuffering meter. Note that realtime playback will most likely not work properly that way.
2) I can add that into the plugin at some point. (It will not calculate the stretched length correctly if there's host automation used for the stretch amount parameter, though...It could also be argued the length is always infinite because currently the looping can't be turned off. ;) )

Thank you very much for replying!
1) Your advice worked. Never was aware this is an optoin in Reaper...
Now its possible to render out any length of audio, which I find very nice, for a drone sound etc.
2) You are of course basically right. Some sounds although do envolve and so does the stretched result over time. I did for example once a stretch of Bach's Aria for Piano (Used in a TV series, "Hannibal" (I think) as a stretched version as well. And there it was interesting to know before how long the result will be on which specific stretch amount.
Thanks for the great work!

I noticed a note somewhere that latency is not reported to the host, but might be eventually. Seeing as this is an ambient slow moving kind of thing, it seems best not to report the latency right? Otherwise if you're using latency compensation for other tracks, it could really delay your overall project too much. Right?

Yeah, it's probably best that I don't make the plugin report the latency at all. The timing is so unpredictable anyway there's probably not much hope of getting the PaulXStretch output synchronized with anything else. (Maybe it can be improved a bit at some point, though.)

Just want to say thanks for your work, Xenakios!

1.0.2 out, download links at https://xenakios.wordpress.com/paulxstretch-plugin/

02-23-2018 1.0.2
-Added stretch processing bypass parameter (to play the original sound looped like it is passed into the stretcher)
-Show approximate stretched output duration in info label (only valid if the stretch amount is not automated in the host)
-Waveform selection can be moved by dragging the selection top area
-Smoothed playback with fades when changing waveform selection (doesn't work ideally, fixing later...)
-Fixes for the waveform graphics disappearing unexpectedly (this probably still isn't entirely fixed, though)

It had been nagging me I hadn't included the "Free filter" from the original Paul Stretch application yet, so I finally decided to work on it, plus some additional features for it :
