As awesome as Aly's FMDrive is, I'm on a Mac so I can't use it! I've compiled a collection of .OPM patches from Sonic 3 & Knuckles converted into an FM8 patch bank. It's available here: https://gumroad.com/l/ddoH (https://gumroad.com/l/ddoH). If I see enough support for it, I might even do banks for more games

Thanks, and how did you do that? Is there a automated way?

So in my repo, there are 2 ruby scripts: https://github.com/hunterbridges/gen-fm8 (https://github.com/hunterbridges/gen-fm8)dusted william wrote:awesome!

I used the opm2syx.rb script to convert a batch of .opm files into .syx files that FM8 could import. Then I imported them all and used the fm8rename.rb script to manually name the files (which were things like Fina0001.nfm8) to names with the whole BGM title in them. Then I went through one-by-one and named each patch, turned on key sync for the oscillators, bumped up the volume for the oscillators, matched octaves, and tagged the patches for the FM8 DB. It was quite a tedious process, haha

I've added a dump of all these files in sysex, which can be imported directly into FM8: http://www.mediafire.com/file/x5ww7d3wf ... -sysex.zip
Special thanks to Martin Tarenskeen for his awesome DXconvert utility!
I guess Hunter hasn't responded yet... I can't get his Ruby scripts to work (yet), but in the meantime, these sysex files can be directly imported into FM8. It's tedious (no batch import), but it works. If someone could figure out this Excel trick: https://www.adsrsounds.com/fm8-tutorial ... -into-fm8/
... and post more detailed instructions for building the macro, that would be awesome. I can't get it to work on my machine... yet.

looks like it was too long and cut off the -sysex.zip part, add that to the link it should work.Aloysius wrote:Link doesn't work.

I tried these in Arturia DX7 V, and they worked very well, and sound good (alhtough they seem to be very "bare bones" FM sounds). For those who like these, DX7 V is a great alternative. IMO, it translates better than FM8.hbridges wrote: I used the opm2syx.rb script to convert a batch of .opm files into .syx files that FM8 could import. Only thing that you have to do is raise the overall volume. All sounds come up with a very low master volume.
