To be honest, I don't understand the draw of a built in preset manager either. :P

Well, DAWs already let you manage presets, right?

Post

Yup they do.

What exactly is the draw of having built in effects? Wouldn't people almost always rather use separate plugins for effects?
If the effects work on master channel then I don't see a point of them also. However if you can do some more advance stuff with them i.ex - apply distortion only to one oscillator, or put the echo sound through your filters (separetely than oscillators) they can be useful

light theme, yes or no?

Yes.

v2.0 alpha 5:
- Added separate controls for FM mode and filter on/off
- Change "filter resonance 1" parameter name to "filter resonance"
- Increase filter resonance range
- Roll off filter resonance at higher cutoffs
- In mono mode, only apply new velocities when starting a new note, not when gliding from one note to another

I'm going to be adding separate mono/legato modes pretty soon, so let me know if you can think of a good way to visually represent that with a switch.

Post

v2.0 alpha 6:
- Add noise waveform
- Add separate mono/legato modes
- Increase default volume envelope release time
- Improve volume balancing when using the oscillator mix slider
- Allow negative values for the LFO to cutoff knob (makes it consistent with the other knobs)
- Fix a bug where FM modulation did not work when FM coarse was set to 0

Let me know if I'm bumping the topic too much.

the good ones do

so when you get all the features and bugs worked out and
you are bored, maybe you can compile an XP compatible build
for those that prefer a lightweight OS for their daw?
HW SYNTHS [KORG T2EX - AKAI AX80 - YAMAHA SY77 - ENSONIQ VFX]
HW MODULES [OBi M1000 - ROLAND MKS-50 - ROLAND JV880 - KURZ 1000PX]
SW [CHARLATAN - OBXD - OXE - ELEKTRO - MICROTERA - M1 - SURGE - RMiV]
DAW [ENERGY XT2/1U RACK WINXP / MAUDIO 1010LT PCI]

Post

@Tesselode probably it would be a good idea to add some presets... ;-)

I will definitely look into it! I don't have an XP installation to test on, and I'm new to Visual Studio and how compatibility works with different versions of Windows, but I'll see what I can do.

I am looking to do that soon! Just gotta figure out the best way to include the presets. If anyone wants to contribute presets to a default bank, let me know! ;)

What about adding PWM?

That would be cool. i'm a big fan of charlatan and obxd and have
made skins for them in the past. i would gladly dress mika too :D

i'd also give it a shot at contributing a sound bank.

i'll keep an eye out for news of an XP tester needed :borg:

I did try it; I have a branch where there's a PWM waveform where the amount is fixed and the speed is linked to the vibrato speed. It's not very fun, though. PWM really needs its own amount/speed controls, but I don't know where those would fit in the interface.
