The short answer is they bought cakewalk and all cakewalk software. They are trying to get everyone to migrate over to thier site band lab before they shut down the cakewalk servers. Supposedly cakewalk plugs and software will be migrated over if you sign up using the same email addy you used for your cake walk account.

Any Cakewalk software that was registered before 2015 should have both the serial numbers and registration codes in your account. Just download the installers and copy the serials and reg codes to some place safe, that is all you need to keep using them. Offline install and activation will continue to work. For Sonar up to X3, and the classic Cakewalk synths, it should work this way.Dasheesh wrote:I’ve spent my morning signing up for a band lab account and hoping my plug migrates over somehow. I foresee a cluster.
However, any Cakewalk software that is "connected" to the Cakewalk Command Center (released in 2015 or newer) will need to connect to the activation server if you need to re-install it. I believe Z3TA+2 and Rapture Pro are in this category, along with all releases of Sonar Platinum, etc.

I just arrived on the thread.
It's curious, why only one vote possible?
For example Rapture Pro and Z3Ta are two totally different synths, and I would have liked to tick both check boxes.

Hum... is Dimension LE not a sort of enhanced (and free too) SFZ ?himalaya wrote:But, Z3ta+ is still roaming free and hasn't been captured by the agents from Area 51, and I'd love to see it updated before it's zapped into a vault, deep underground...

Even if the piano player can't play, keep the party going.

I don't think BandLab is legally bound to the results of this poll.mumpcake wrote:Now you can check 3 boxesBlackWinny wrote:I just arrived on the thread.

So, as we used to say in Chicago 92 years ago, vote early and vote often!

I remember thinking that Cyclone was pretty cool for what it was when it came out.
Several years later, Cakewalk advertized they were coming out with this be-all end-all synth that was supposed to be Rene's crowning glory. That one turned out to be Beatscape, which was okay for what it was but pissed off a lot of people for not living up to the hype.
One handles WAV, the other REX. It would be nice if they could come up with something that is the best of both worlds.

Id like to see a version 3 of z3ta, but based on version 1, not 2. (I totally prefer the sliders, plus they mislabeled the EG stages in version 2, (Sustain doesnt have a Time parameter, time to Sustain is Decay, in this case a second stage), and the arrangement in general, especially how they layed out the Filter section, kinda blows too.) So what they should do is take version 1, make it a lot bigger, implement all the improvements from version 2, and then take it from there.
What i would like to see added, first and foremost, is a real mono-mode that makes the synth behave accordingly. Right now z3ta+ is completely unusable as a monophonic synth because the EGs dont behave as they would need to, which is a crying shame since beefy basslines and juicy leads are totally its forte. Second would be a editable arpeggiator window which doesnt only display the notes but also lets you add/move/delete them (and set a velocity value), i.e. more like a step-sequencer but still arpeggiating the notes like ERA2 does when set to Arp mode. (In fact ERA2 would be a good 'template' in every regard since you can also specify the range of the arpeggio in both octaves and semitones, (plus various other things that influence how the arpeggio is being played), which of course would be fabulous to have too because it can lead to all sorts of cool sequences you wouldnt have thought of yourself.) Since Rapture already has the basic code for a solid step-sequencer, (128 steps, syncable, steppable, smoothable, etc.) maybe they could take that as a basis and enhance it.
Number 2 would be Rapture, but again the old original one. What this one needs first and foremost is more modulation sources, in other words its own EGs and LFOs and StepSeqs should be made available as such. Other than that id really like to see some sort of free-running mode and PWM for the oscs, (there has to be a way since it works with z3ta+ which is sample based too), and as id demonstrated some time ago there is something really odd going on with all the non-S filters, which probably should be looked at too because i cant imagine that thats actually normal intended behavior. And last but not least there should be a second UI size (id say at least twice as big) because it really feels a bit cramped in there. The original size is still kinda OK to work with on my screen res (1920x1200), but a larger UI would allow for bigger labeling and that definitely would be welcome since half of the parameter labels and their readouts are a bit on the microscopic side. (Which is of course an even bigger problem for people who work at even higher resolutions.)
Curious to see what comes of this. Happy to see that the code is not just being left to rot. +1 to trying to bring Rene Ceballos back in the game. Since z3ta+ and Rapture are his creations, he would be the right man to next-gen these 2 synths.

It's been years since Rene has been involved in synth design. While it would be nice to see a comeback, it is probably highly unlikely that will ever happen.

Each time I took a sample product in Dimension format at Digital Sound Factory, Dimension LE was given for free in the zip file.chk071 wrote:Dimension LE is free? Where? Why? I have a dozen of samplesets from Digital Sound Factory... in each zip file Dimension LE is included, for free. Even in the V01 Grand Piano at $19.99. So I have a dozen of copies of Dimension LE.
