Some interesting grooves in there and quite well produced, but it's all a little basic at the moment:

First half is a repeated Saz loop with no variation / editing layered with some risers, synth sounds + a basic drum beat.

Second half is a different repeated Saz loop with no variation / editing layered in similar ways.

As it stands it is quite atmospheric on a quick listen , but fails to grab me for very long as there is no serious development of the basic ideas.

Overall: It's quite catchy at first, but needs more editing and development of the various musical elements:

1) Edit / mash up those loops in some way?
2) Bring in some more varied background harmonies / chords?
3) Some rippling arpeggios?
4) Even bigger textures in some sections - more layers for a bigger sound?
5) A Section without the Saz loops?
6) Fragments of the Saz loops played on other sounds / synths?

Hi, good job, some good ideas in there.
The "Saz" or whatever ethnic plucked string that is does get lost between 1:32-1:52 so it needs to be mixed better.
The start is good.
Maybe some "call and response" might add significant interest to it.

Hey Bansaw, thanks for the feedback. I have just uploaded another demo version of the track. Please do listen to it and share your views. I would be really grateful. :)

The plucked instrument at the start is known as a 'Kanun'. 8)

Hmmmm the sounds itself are middle east maybe, but the arrangement sounds more middleaged. The song all in all works anyways, but the bassdrum is not enough enbedded in the overall sound in my ears.

Thanks for the feedback. What do you mean that the arrangment sounds more 'middleaged' ?

I'd have to agree. I think you need to make a decision about what the focus of the track is. I personally thinks that it's the melodic side of things, with the use of ethnic instruments to provide variety. The beat is secondary, and really just a platform for the rest to build on.

At the beginning in particular, I felt the kick was playing a different song. Things really open up at 1:05, with the nice melodic interplay, and the rhythmic introduction of the stabs with delay.

I find the beat overall works better later, once you have those filtered elements going "zap", than when it is kick-centric.

So maybe think about shifting some of the rhythmic heavy lifting away from the kick and using other elements instead. Or even throw in some ethnic percussion.

There are also one or two notes that are questionable in context with what else is playing at the same time. It's just one or two here and there at the end of a couple of phrases.

Overall I quite like the track, with my favourite part most definitely around 1:05. If you can capture that vibe/spirit over the course of the entire track, you'll have a winner.

Hey sjm, thanks for listening to the song and I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

I like the punchy kick (even if it is a bit intrusive). It gives just a bit of aggressiveness/life amidst the melodic landscape.

I think your ideas regarding possible improvements/additions are good, though I am not ken on adding any more elements particularly (had thought about some darbuka in th nitial stages) :D

As you can probably tell, the production quality might be a little rusty. After all, I have been on a 3 year break from making electronic music. :tu:

listened to the 3d edit and enjoyed it! a good mix between ethno and modern electronic Music. I liked the hard sidechain pumping. :-) only nitpick: the plucked Instrument in the beginning sounds static, sampled to my ears. the "ta-da-da's" string picks too equal. subtle changes in volume and/or attack would be cool.
anyway thumbs up!
