I have a question. I'm looking to buy a Steinberg UR22mkII usb audio interface just for headphone monitoring would this work with such a long extension cable? Or should I maybe extend it the other way around and use an extended headphone cable? (wouldn't have easy access to the volume knob that way though).

A USB extension might work, but I'd go for the headphone extension. Why is it you need to be 10 metres away from your audio interface?

Given you're using a Steinberg audio interface I assume you're using Cubase?
Go the headphone option and control the DAW with an app on your phone/tablet.

Do you mean alongside another audio interface being used for regular IO?BJ wrote:I have a question. I'm looking to buy a Steinberg UR22mkII usb audio interface just for headphone monitoring
I believe the best you'll get over USB for that kind of device is 5m. I'd suggest a long audio cable and a headphone amp instead.would this work with such a long extension cable? I might be a little crazy but I like to keep my audio PC in another room because I really loathe the bit of noise it makes, I've had this setup for a while and it's wonderful having a completely quiet room. The problem is I keep having to switch audio cables because my soundcard doesnt have a seperate headphone out, so I already have a headphone amp and 10 meter long cables and it works great but now I want to have both my monitors and a headphone connected at the same time so I don't have to walk to the other room and change the cables.

Ah. If i'd known you wanted want all of your monitoring at a distance from the computer, I'd have suggested a monitor controller instead...
